What have the noughties done for God? 4:18pm on 11 Aug 2009 I had the God Squad at my door recently, and as they represent whatever particular church/religion, I felt obliged to challenge them on their beliefs. If they were door to door sellers, you wouldn't take at face value what they say, so why do it with God? I aksed if he'd ever read "The God Delusion", as it puts forward some pretty strong arguements against organized religion.....his response, "Richard Dawkins is an idiot!", I said well no actually he's not, he's someone who has studied his subject extensively and gives a strong arguement. Rather than the guy at the door offer counter arguements to Dawkins, he never got by the plain old slagging off.

I've now just finished reading the article on BBC news and Sister Wendy said about non believers...

That's 2 members of the clergy I've come across, who rather than debate would rather try to put down their challengers. That in itself is ignorant. And why do the clergy always take it as a personal attack on them, if you question Gods existance?? Surely "God" can look after himself? Why do the clergy take great offence to being challenged?? Why do the religious think they have a right not to be questioned about the myths they peddle? Religion should come with the same warnings as physcics, "for entertainment purposes only"!

Should we be afraid of not being afraid? 4:47pm on 18 Feb 2009 I lost all interest in Global Warming a long time ago. The reason is that it has been shoved down our throats constantly, and instead of balanced educated arguements, establishments like the govt and bbc try to use scare mongering, to the point that when I see ANY report on global warming, for or against, I'm more concerned with the motives behind the report, rather than its content. Fear can't be used to impose your will, the govt thinks that rule does not apply to them.
Ecstasy: Class A drug? 2:22pm on 26 Sep 2008 What's the point of the advisory committee, if the people they're advising, ie the government, take no notice at all?? Ecstacy is a far safer drug than alcohol and tobacco, in fact most mdma fatalities are due to exhaustion/dehydration, therefore it's ignorance that kills. The drugs classification system has no bearing at all on consumption. If people are going to take E, coke, smack, they will whether it's class a/b/c or z. To suggest reducing a drugs classification will increase usage is a total myth. If heroin was legal would you go out, score a deal and shoot up?? Of course you wouldn't, because we've been educated about the harmfull affects. The sooner the govt realise education and regulation is the way forward the better. They'll happily let you smoke yourself into an early coffin and bleed the NHS dry for lung/throat cancer treatments, because they make a fortune out of it, so to not do the same with ALL illeagal substances just seems crazy. I for one will still buy a couple of E when I want, smoke a few spliffs if I want. If the government want to make me a criminal then fine. To be honest, if the cabinet tried taking these substances, they'd have a better idea of how to control them, especially if they're ignoring the advice of their own advisory committee. It's so frustrating!
Dose of long jump joy relieves Chambers headache 09:09am on 14 Jul 2008 What's all this about Dwaine being punished twice?? He had a 2 year ban, and was banned from the olympics. That's 1 punishment, albeit in 2 parts, but they were the rules then, which he knew when he was spiking up. I think he's got some nerve trying to play the victim in all this, when he voluntarily took these banned substances knowing the punishment if he was to be caught.
