Test clues emerge in Cape Town monsoon 12:48pm on 24 Jun 2009 Welsh fans need to let their Shane Williams bias drop - he has been consistent for the past 6 months: consistently off form.
It looks like the management will pick Kearney at 11 if Byrne is fit but they should pick Fitzgerald.
The only other positions really in question are:
1) outhalf - they will stick with Jones and, on balance they probably should; I hope Hook is on the bench because O'Gara is not a good sub.
2) second row - they will stick with the two who started last weekend (although I can see the argument for giving Shaw a run)
3) openside - looks like they will stick with Wallace and that Williams may be carrying a knock (otherwise, I think Wallace is probably a better impact sub for a test against SA in terms of his ball carrying)
The other positions aren't really open for any debate: all Welsh front row (huge mistake not to have brought Rory Best and huge pity Murray is injured), Heaslip is the only good no.8 (even if he had one off game behind a back-peddling scrum on Saturday), O'Callaghan and Hines are liabilities.
Last chance looms for wannabe Test Lions 09:46am on 23 Jun 2009 Agree that 10 is also a position where a change would be welcome but not sure ROG is the man - he is just as hot and cold as Jones.
Shaw or Hines could be worth a start but if not I would put Hines on the bench, as he gives more options than DOC.
It could also make more sense to start Williams with Wallace to come off the bench for an impact. The last thing I would want to see is that one-trick pony Powell anywhere near the 22.
Finally at wing, someone else needs a look in there. Williams would need a stormer tonight to justify selection, otherwise its Fitzgerald. Kearney is not a winger and hasn't played on the wing since April.
All Welsh front row is a certainty but its a real pity Murray went home.

Croft is definitely unlucky but - as another poster noted - if there was a place he should have taken, it was Powell's (Powell is limited and has gone off the boil). Quinlan is immense and should have much more caps to his name - he will bring a lot to the tour.
Somebody mentioned Henson (as did Edwards) - I could think of nobody worse to bring on tour. He is a disruptive element and his play is erratic. Perhaps the most overrated player in Europe.
Apart from Croft, Armitage is the other player you would have liked to see in there. Despite being an Irish and Leinster fan, I think he has performed better than Kearney (and perhaps Lee Byrne) since Christmas however I think they are both more complete, while Shane Williams has also been anonymous this year. Either way, would be good to see Armitage come into the squad.
Like many people, I would really be concerned about the outhalf berth - two very similar players with similar weaknesses. Not sure what the solution would be though - Hook has gone off the boil. Wilko is unfortunately not really a consideration.

You seem to willfully ignore the meaning of my post. I do not want to "suppress the freedom to express ideas". I merely think that you are abusing a forum.

You should be able to express your opinion (you only have one from what I have read). However, common decency and etiquette on most blogs implies that you stick to the topic of the thread. Clearly you have no respect for other users who couldn't care less about your opinion - or that of Jukkha - and who are actually interested in the subject of the thread.

It must be a terribly fulfilling way to spend your lives: in front of the computer all day, writing the same thing every day. Your parents must be so proud.

Death by a thousand cuts? 1:16pm on 02 Dec 2008 This agreement is a cop out. More fuel efficient cars (which are also much less polluting) are possible now. Instead of encouraging manufacturers to produce and promote them, EU governments have forced through a deal to keep business-as-usual for the short-term.

There are people who want to engage in discussions on the issues raised by these threads but every single one is hijacked by europhobic and eurofederalist trolls.

If you won't moderate the comments properly, then please don't allow any comments. It makes a mockery of blogging to permit such trolling.

Cars speeding through parliament 6:13pm on 25 Nov 2008 Why do these threads always stray from topic? Regardless of the issue - they always degenerate into rants between freebornjohn and Jukka on the EU.

The moderation here leaves wanting. If a poster strays from topic - in this case car emissions rules - the comment should be blocked.
