It may be that Court of Appeal judges know there's a higher court so they explore their predujices rather than the Law.

PM Glass Box for Wednesday 5:42pm on 25 Nov 2009 Channel 4 had a programme in its Despatches series when it accused the Tories of receiving lots of money and support from 'Conservative Friends of Israel' which seemed to have access to the Tory leadership and influence over policy. This 'extremist Islamic group' probably isn't a fan of the Israeli treatment of the Lebanon and the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories so will have earned the anger of this group.

Gove didn't seem to be sure of his facts, as if he was acting for someone else rather than following research he'd done himself. I think CFI have put in a lot of money to the Tories and this is what they get in return. Choice over questions asked at PMQ's - a lot of power.
The PM Glass Box. 02:31am on 20 Nov 2009 I had this idea, when writing on another blog, that the problem with Parliament is the safe seats, so, if PR is unacceptable, why not 'twin' seats? My seat of Croydon N is safe Labour, insofar that any seat can be safe Labour, Croydon S is safe Tory and Croydon C is a marginal. If Croy N was twinned with Croy S so I got a vote for both but so did the constitiuents of Croy S it would be more of a fight. You'd get the upsides of the constitiuency system, MP's would know who they are representing, without the problem of safe seats, Tories not living anywhere near their constitiuencies (I know one Labour MP lives far away but it's quite normal for Tories who represent safe seats).
