Rumbling skies 3:10pm on 06 Jan 2009 Commercial flights are an annoying reminder of how careless we are of the world we inhabit. Far worse are the killer planes that regularly defile the sky above where I live, in Devon. There is no excuse for these abominations.

What do you think of how the BBC has responded SINCE the Brand/Ross story broke? 2:20pm on 29 Oct 2008 I dislike these two performers so I didn't listen to their broadcast. Of those who did very few were offended it seems. The offence caused to Andrew Sachs is genuine and unpleasant but somewhat mitigated by his original intention to participate in the programme and providing the phone number. Once again a national newspaper is leading public opinion by the nose. At least it is of some benefit that Brown is involving himself in trivia rather than issues of significance that affect us all. The BBC should proceed on the basis of the complaints received from Sachs and listeners to the programme. But ignore idiots who read the Daily Mail.
Suggest a story idea 2:07pm on 28 Oct 2008 Every newscaster is wearing a poppy. This charity is promoted by the military elite and glorifies those who choose to kill or maim millions of people every year. Their victims get nothing. Can you do something to redress the balance.
As others see us. 3:48pm on 20 Oct 2008 I too would like to see asylum seekers treated with respect and welcomed here. But economic immigrants are not asylum seekers - they are a consequence of our vile consumerist society and cynical foreign policy.

We are a crowded island that is seeing its values, traditions and quality of life eroded through a mixture of political correctness and avarice.

As others have said like most of us I can identify some foreign roots in my background. But balanced migration is necessary - as well as a healthy disrespect for politically correctness and bigotry in all its forms.
Dementia. 2:06pm on 22 Sep 2008 If I was a dog I would be treated with respect by a patient focused private health service and allowed to die when my life was no longer worth living. Why can humans not receive the same compassion and dignity? I am happy to allow religious people to enjoy their suffering - please allow me my choice to die without this.
Dementia. 6:30pm on 19 Sep 2008 What I find most offensive in this debate is the intervention of professional carers. Invariably their comments are patronising. Clearly they never notice the agony in the eyes of their victims whose awful lives they prolong, stripped of all dignity and quality, for their own gain.
Dementia. 5:35pm on 19 Sep 2008 This is so important to me. I have tried to ensure that I have the means to end my own life at the point when I choose but the worry that this will become impossible for me is very great. Those who do not wish to die have no reason to fear and should not force such terrible misery on others. The Baroness's honesty shamed the religious zealots whose disingenuous behaviour will hurt so many of us who need the peace of mind that these changes could provide.
surprise surprise 2:17pm on 22 Apr 2008 My daughter had to spend a fortnight in a holiday home to get married in a CE church within 3 miles of where I live (in a different parish). It is time for a 2nd reformation. As the established state supported church (fat with inherited land etc.) CE premises should be available to all. Religion has shown its true colours from the inquisition to AIDs and we need to make a stand against superstitious bigotry.
Movable Type Comments 1:29pm on 07 Feb 2008 Toleration of religion by an enlightened society is being mistaken for weakness by deluded and dangerous people of all religions. To fudge the absolute difference between a rational state and irrational behaviour based on idiotic dogma is inexcusable. We should only tolerate irrationality if it does not impact on anyone else and end the 'inclusive' behaviour that is encouraging this kind of nonsense.
