Manchester City making waves 9:49pm on 26 Aug 2009 As a city fan, like the fans of the other 15 premiership teams I have spent years watching the Top 4 year in and year out winning everything in sight and now that City have a chance of breaking into the Top 4 all I read about is how it is morally wrong for City to be buying players, how they should not throw money everywhere and are trying to get above their station by trying to buy world class stars. You also read about how City have no class or no pedigree and will fall away when the pressure starts to hit. This is particularly hypocritical when most of the Top 6 have spent thier way to their current positions including Spurs and Villa.
I completely understand how other fans feel about City and I have always wished that the league was fairer and that it was possible for any team to win the Premiership and that the football was more interesting.
However, until the welcome day comes when the rules are changed to make the game fairer I just wish that some of the fans would give us a break. If you fans are really interested in seeing a fairer league then how many of you lot are members of the Football Supporters Federation, have you by any chance boycotted Sky and the Champions League that have ruined football? Probably hardly any of you.
To the fans of the Top 4 and all these biased London based football journalists who berate City for flexing their financial muscles, just get over it. To the worried, arrogant sniping Top 4 fans, you have had it your own way for too long and just enjoy the moments when you realise that your season has finished by December and you know that there is nothing that you can realistically win as your team kicks off in August.
If not this season it is going to be next season that City will make the Champions League as the money that their owners are willing to spend will make it inevitable.
Citi and manic Monday 4:34pm on 25 Nov 2008 What is more amazing than this spin and drivel that we are getting from our 'responsible' saviours in No. 10 is that people are buying it. The only thing that those jokers have got right is that the scale of this crisis is unprecedented. I remembered the last downturn in 1992. It was bad but I never thought for a moment that we would not pull out of it or that our government was completely irresponsible with the public finances or that people would have fallen for such a bundle of lies. I am not so sure this time as I am afraid that there is nothing left in the public or private kitty and ultimately all you get with Labour is 'tax', 'spend' and 'IMF' albeit in a different order this time.
Irresponsible or prudent? 9:40pm on 15 Nov 2008 Gordon, please stop running scared of the british electorate. Please call an election before you saddle us with a decade of debt repayment and a weak economy. On a separate note, the BBC are meant to be impartial and not some media wing of the Labour party. I can't wait for Labour to go and the BBC to be cut down to size
How will the Chancellor repay debt? 3:07pm on 30 Oct 2008 What confuses me about this recession is that if it is the worst set of economic conditions for 70 odd years then why does it not feel like that this is a full blown on recession, where is the mass unemployment or is that to come? According to Gordon the solution to the problem (more debt) is this not the reason why we are in the mess.
Also I guess that everyone including our beloved Gordon believes in a magic bullet to sort out the recession, I personally believe in the old school, that the recession will play itself out once asset prices are at more reasonable levels, where asset buyers are more confident that they are buying good value.
Resorting to more debt to sort out the mess just delays the inevitable asset price correction.
Spend, spend, spend? 09:08am on 16 Oct 2008 More and more I feel that I am living in a Banana replublic with a self-imposed dictator who is determined to do anything to cling onto power.
Spending your way of a recession doh, has this not been tried countless of times already and does not work.
Move over Gordon as you are reason why we are in this mess.
Unpredictable politics 12:23pm on 13 Jun 2008 I am personally sick of this nanny, intrusive state stealing our liberties by stealth all in the name of a war on terror that is being used to steal our human rights.
I am glad that it is about time someone put their foot down and stood up to the interference and control of our lives by the labour spin doctors who always try and ram down their control-freak, I know best policies down our throats.
If the labour party had the same level of integrity as David Davis then they would have called an election we would have been shot of their failures and endless spin by now.
The country is starting to realise that this big government, tax and spend, big brother, stalinistic rule is strangling us.
