Steve Bould was signed in 1999 - his first game was a 4-0 defeat against Chelsea.

You may be thinking of Stan Varga as far as the Arsenal game goes. It was 2000-1, Niall Quinn scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.

And to those who are questioning the Given connection, he came on loan to us from Blackburn in 1995-96, played 17 games and we lost just one of them. An immense keeper. He should have signed for us.
The fine tuning of pre-season 2:19pm on 01 Jul 2009 Paul. A bit of a geeky question, but one I want to ask. Who is handling the actual filming of each individual Football League match for the highlights show? When it was on the ITV, each match would be filmed by the ITV Regions team and that footage would be shown on Sky as well.

Problem was, that footage was often always awful. Jerky camera work, goals missed, cameras sited nowhere near their intended gantry (some were sited pitchside!) and altogether amateurish.

Will the BBC be delegating the coverage to the BBC regions, and will it be of the quality we expect of the Beeb?

I guess Bargain Hunt, Doctors, Step Up to the Plate, Jakers!, Time Warp Trio, Skunk Fu, Best of Friends, Blue Peter, Newsround, The Weakest Link all did then.

Or not. Your coverage of the Football League is poor at best, your reporters make simple mistakes, incorrectly attributing goals to players who weren't on the pitch, crosses by players who left the pitch moments before, then a one-line interview with the manager.

But now you have the rights to shove the highlights down our throats at every opportunity, I guess that the Championship will be a big deal on the Beeb.

You Are The Ref #9 3:12pm on 19 Jun 2008 The substitution has been completed and the team can carry on with 11 players, but the offending player will be sent off and presumably handed a charge for violent conduct.

The referee has the power to send off or reprimand any of the players or coaches from when he arrives in the ground up to when he leaves.
