Footie in all its Glory 5:13pm on 07 Apr 2009 One small fact that seems to be sneaking by everyone here is that any time added on at Old Trafford was more time for VILLA to go and snatch a winner too, as after all hadn't they been running the United Vauxhall Corsa defence ragged all afternoon hadn't they?

2) Things may look 'easy' on paper when you look at the 'form' of teams you get drawn against, but there is no such thing as an EASY draw at this stage (platitude I know, but it's true)... any of the teams could beat each other...so let's cut out the whinging or delusions of 'easy' passages..

3) In relation to that, it seems to me Premier League sides are seriously underestimating the opposition from Europe...lot of arrogance here...

4) In the end hopefully the best sides will win through, by that I mean the sides that go out to win it, but you can never discount a slice of luck/dodgy decision here and there that can turn a game (e.g. scouse vs Chelsea at Anfield and the goal that was/wasn't? Slipping in the rain for a P.K... )

5) As for United winning everything, it will make them a more hated team than even possibly now, but the ones hating them most will be the ones who want to do exactly the same... read for that especially Abramovich/Benitez/Wenger/Hiddink...

Jumping under trains is almost a national sport here in Japan... yes you have to feel for the person who does it, but also don't forget the poor driver trying to stop the train! Let alone the family left behind...

btw here the family has to pay compensation in many cases for the 'inconvenience' caused... one to think about.

I go back regularly, but it never changes... IDENTITY is this issue.. sort yourselves out..
I love the place because of the diversity, but that is it's biggest paradox...
There is no IDENTITY there, a new one unique to Australia has to evolve given time.. embrace it you political boneheads and move forward, look at the big picture and have confidence in what you have... it's your strength and yet you deny it... don't look short term and don't hold on to US or EU policies... put some new ideas forward from what you have learnt!!

Give the immigrants a say in your country... they have the answers!!

Time for England to trust Joe Cole 4:31pm on 08 Sep 2008 Well you obviously seem to know Cole better than anyone else, so why are you asking this question?

Nevertheless, if you want an answer, I ued to like Cole a lot when he was at West Ham - he looked to be able to produce everything an all-round player of his ability should do.

What I don't like about him now, is that since his move to Chelsea he does seem to have taken on some of the 'big time' airs that you say he hasn't. He has unfortunately taken on the arrogance that runs through the Chelsea camp, and it comes out in his play when he decides to do things his way, at the expense of the team, hence a roasting from the managers. I saw him in action at the Tottenham v Chelsea 4-4 last season, and he was tremendous in putting Chelsea up 4-1 and then decided he had done enough and we know what happened next...

Can't fault his ability, can question his temperament/attitude.
Goodnight Beijing 4:25pm on 24 Aug 2008 I am an ex-pat in Japan and watched the closing ceremony because I missed the opening one which everyone was raving about both positively and negatively...

To try and sell London in 8 minutes after all that Chinese pyrotechnics was always going to be hard, but we did miss a great opportunity... why did we not keep to the 'simple is best' approach and let the red bus do it's thing - transport what everyday people see in London (well leave the knives out?)

Seriously I mean show the ethnic diversity, tradition, etc that has millions flocking to the place. I was back in March with my daughter and staggered by the numbers of tourists there... (btw I am from Manchester)

But no, we get a bus that opens with a nobody singer and not long for this world guitarist!! If you are going to do a 007 job then get Q on it ahaha

This called for a Beatles effort (not sure how many of them are left hehe), I am sure more people around the world know them?!! No brainer...

But the killer blow was open jacket, hands in pockets Boris!! What a disgrace...talk about looking out of place in all that slickness... like a drunken party gatecrasher... whinced several times!

If you are going to make a contrast, make it clear and understandable perhaps?

Ferdinand a good example of a captain...
Terry is still a good defender though...
