Aussie captaincy enters transition phase 00:55am on 13 Sep 2009 Clarke hasn't had anything to do with Shane Watson being a sturdy one-day bowler. He frequently takes wickets in this format as checking his stats would tell you. That's why he is classed as an all-rounder and in this format, a good one. Claiming Clarke's influence just sounds like a made-up stick with which to beat Punter's captaincy.

Anyway, it was nice to see a top batsman out there today even if he only got 48. No-one does that swivel pull like Punter.
Miracles don't happen twice 01:18am on 09 Aug 2009 All this kneejerking. There is this test still to be won and lost and then we have the Oval. Lots more can and will happen, neither of these teams appears capable of going at it two tests in a row.

And I agree about Ben Hilfenhaus. Nothing to show that this is only his fourth test match.

Darth Blader, how many series can you compare this one to? 2005 is wearing thin already. How about none? It will have it's own rhythm and flow just like this game.

Honestly, if there are many more endings like this I'll be hospitalised before the series is out.
Ashes player ratings - First Test 8:05pm on 12 Jul 2009 Broad won't be ditched. If the English team had lost, he might have been. I imagine the only change will be Panesar for Harmison or Onions.

The ratings look pretty right although 9 for Anderson looks a bit high next to Colly. Colly even bowled ok unlike the rest of the English attack.

I would have given Colly MOTM. He stood firm in both innings and was completely solid today. Fine, fine effort. He was the only one who seemed to realise it was still a batting pitch apart from Anderson and Panesar.

I hope to see North get a century before lunch, they may be under instructions to get a wriggle on and I am becoming a fan. He starts nervy and looks awful for about 20 balls, then transforms into a very calm man.

Siddle and Hilfenhaus have never played in England and only had one warm-up game. If anyone should have been nervous, it was them, but Hilfy was on his mark from first over. Nice to see a bowler who is still a rookie so collected.
England left to absorb shocking defeat 12:23pm on 06 Jun 2009 This loss says a bit about tight corners and the English team's improved 'ruthlessness'. That feels lame even typing it. After those moments of failing to bowl out the Windies in the Carribean to miss three run-out attempts (I won't include the catch as that is never fair on bowlers still in their runthrough) in one over is some going.
England left to absorb shocking defeat 11:30am on 06 Jun 2009 It was a very exciting game, a real cracker and seeing the Netherlands team charge out on to the pitch at the end of the game was a real high.

Round the wicket bowling tactic speaks volumes about the attitude to the game. Most other teams want to win by scoring the most runs and limit the other teams by taking wickets as well as keeping it tight. England appear to want to win by not allowing other batsmen to get bat on ball as a first up ploy, pretty much removing the chance of bowled or lbws, before thinking about scoring as many runs as you possibly can. Then hilariously they look annoyed when legitimate wides are called on this 'tactic.'

Just poor-spirited and they have talented players so what is the story?
All set for the World Twenty20 5:49pm on 31 May 2009 They might be on that late as Sky won't let them show the highlights earlier. If Sky is planning a highlights package of their own, they won't want the Beeb jumping the gun. Just a guess, though.
Symonds out in the cold 5:33pm on 23 May 2009 How in the hell did he ever get picked in the first place if his non-selection is down to racism? His form in the local Oz comp was ratsh**. He is in about as good a nick for the long form of the game as Michael Vaughan.
Aussies send Ashes warning 08:42am on 14 Mar 2009 electrictornado, you must have thoroughly disapproved of Harmison roughing up the Oz bowlers in 2005. How dreadful that the English team ceded the moral high ground there.
