Khan fighting a losing battle? 12:18pm on 16 Jul 2009 I'm afraid Mr Dirs that Mr Pilks is right. When an unproven glass chinned wonder diddles hundreds of thousands of brain washed sports fans out of £15 to get knocked out in 60 seconds by unknown fighter from God knows where then you're asking for trouble. Warren built him up and he had nothing to back it up. So, for now, Warrena nd Khan are reaping what they have sewn in regards to public sentiment towards the Mr Chinny Khan.

However, I'm willing to give him another chance because I believe in Freddie roach. Remember, the Pac Man got banged out a couple of times early in his career and as Freddie says it took 8 years for him to become the fighter he know is. And he also says that the glassy wonder is the only man the Pac Man takes seriously in training. In fact, Freddie says Khan is able to compete till the ealy middle rounds with him before the great mans power starts to tell at which point they call a halt to proceedings.

I hope Khan's speed starts to tell but you can't teach a fighter to grow an iron chin. Whether the rest of his skills are going to be improved to a level where he can't be hit is something I doubt possible. Naseem got put on his butt a few times but everytime came back to smash his opponent. It's powers like that that separate the great from the good.

Haye has mouth - and plenty of trousers 12:37pm on 19 Nov 2008 I've got a lot of time for a lot of what Iron Dirk says.

Firstly, boxing is the ultimate non-jingoist sport. Boxing fans love great boxers regardless of where they come from and so Ben, you hinting that it would be odd not to support Haye against another fighter is complete tosh. If Haye was American and spoke like he does you'd get on your as-tabloid-as-I-can-be-at-the-Beeb bandwagon and whip the crowd up about his big mouth. I don't hate David Haye though, I dislike him. However, bar Vitali, I don't care much for robot East European heavyweights and I think Haye will dispose of them all rapidly. Vladimir has a glass chin like Haye does so it'll be over in 3 rounds. First man to hit the button wins.

Has David Haye done anything as worthy as almost beating Lennox Lewis in one of the best Heavyweight tear ups of the last 20 years? Nope. Has he beaten a truly world class fighter in his career? Nope. NO cruiser has any kind of public profile and that's because they are all utter pony. Enzo is Welsh the press love him here and he hits quite hard. But, as demostrated by his abject hammering at the hands of Haye, he's poor. The last Cruiser to get a public profile was Evander Holyfield and for good reason. Since then it's been the toilet of world boxing weight classes. Men too lazy to trim down to Light-heavy and plodding about for a buck, or big men shedding the weight because they're too powder puff for the big boys.

Vitali and his inferior brother have worked hard for 10 years, beaten everyone around and fill stadiums across the work. iron Dirk is totally right and you're suggestion that they need Haye is laughable. It was though good of Vitali to be so generous in his praise of Haye despite that rabid glass-jawed idiot spitting vitriol in his direction. Vitali is probably not the fighter he was and Haye might be lucky in that regard as he may have a chance of avoiding him for 12 rounds and sneaking a decision. But if you watch the tape of Dr Ironfist's barney with Lennox, and in particular the huge uppercut he walked through in the 5th, you'll know there's no chance that Haye will knock him out. If Lennox couldn't, Haye sure as hell won't.

That said, he could do Vladimir.
Delivery day for talented Phillips 11:36am on 21 Aug 2008 I alwasy think Edwards does himself a disservice about 1996. The Yank jumped over 18m, something Edwards only did a few times and something no one else has ever done. And I always remember Edwards 6th round jump when he jumped out of the pit and was ruled a red flag by about a centimetre. I was close to his world record.
Bolt reignites 100m interest 1:18pm on 18 Aug 2008 I gotta agree with Mihir vehently on mentioning drugs. WADA has been on the Jamaican authorities to step up their drug testing procedures and they are by no means up to speed yet. Let's look at Greece, a nation with a deeply flawed system of drugs testing that only got on to a proper testing system this year since when 18 of their athletes have failed tests including one track Olympic champion and not including those jokers Kenteris and Thanou.

I'm afraid the recent laws of averages dictate Jamaica WILL have drug cheats within their ranks inspite of a wealth of national talent. However, in Bolts case I think (like Michael Johnson) he benefits from a freakish physiological advantage. Johnson had his brillaint and unique running manner and Bolt is the first 'co-ordinated' giant sprinter.

Remember testing out of season on a regular basis with neutral and reliable testers is the key to catching the cheats. Jamaica has NOT had this in place properly yet.

Please tell me how GB not having a member on the EB makes a blind bit of difference?

If you can (of if Mihir can) I'll take back my comments and grant some kudos instead of incredulity to this article.

This article is pointless if Mihir can't explain why such a situation is 'bad' for GB.

Like I say, I don't fail to see how, at this stage, it could be. Unless we wanted the 2020 games as well!

How is a EB member going to make any difference? We've got the Olympics and we won't have to rely the IOC to get the FIFA World Cup.

I don't know. Sometimes Mihir seems hell bent on demonstrating that he mingles with the aristocrats in the stratosphere of sport.

How about exmapling how this makes a difference Mihir? Doping? Corruption? Tell me. Please.
