I've got lots of friends that only smoke tobacco when they mix it with cannabis, they never smoke ciggerates on their own, and yes there are reports that show that cannabis is more carcinagenic than tobacco (mainly because you inhale it more deaply into your lungs and keep it there for longer) but I'm yet to find someone that smokes 20 spliffs a day, everyday. so in a single instance it's worse, but as a habit it's better.

I also know lots of people that do drink, but they would rather spend a night on weed than alcohol (cost and lack of hangover being major reasons) and trying to mix the two in large quantities leads to a messy situation so I would say they are subsitutes not compliments, would you rather have an alcoholic or a weed smoker as a son?

7# I saw one report that showed the increase of schiznophrenia (sp?) could be explained by better diagnoses and immigragtion (yes that thing again) of people from countries with a higher natrual tendancy.
Whats interesting is that the UK has a higher rate of schizophrenia than the Netherlands which has decrimanalised weed (which is what led them to look at other factors for the increase)

I've met lots of abusive violent drunks but never met a abusive violent stoner.

El Presidente 5:26pm on 27 Oct 2009 With a lot of people saying here about not being able to leave the EU something I haven't seen mentioned is one of the founding principles of Parliament (and therefore technically our constitution) is that "No Act of Parliament may be made secure from amendment or repeal by a future Parliament"

As one post above mentions that an individual countries constitution can override the Lisbon treaty the next UK government can use this rule of Government Supremacy to undo all the powers ceeded to the EU from the UK.

There is a way out, but if we take it would the EU ever let us back in at a future time?
Apocryphal, some might even say hysterical 12:42pm on 27 Oct 2009 IMHO the global warming lobby have taken toataly the wrong track.

Do I agree with the extent of man-made globalwarming? Do I think that even the most stringent (end expensive) of laws in the UK will make a difference on a world scale? No, so I'm hostile to all the dictacts that come from it.

But if they had promoted it as reducing polution for a cleaner environment, reducing energy and natrual resource consumption to prolong stocks and increase renewable (and in the long-term cheaper) and sustainable sources then I would have been supportive.

Addicted to methadone? 2:08pm on 08 Oct 2009 This seems to be a common problem in this country.
I've heard of similar cases with things like millions being spent on a new hospital wing which remained shut because they couldn't aford the doctors & nurses to staff it, schools refurbishing classrooms but not using them as they couldn't afford teachers and from the private sector train companies having to cancle trains because they don't have enough drivers (despite having the stations, tracks and trains).

I think it must be a problem with the accountants / accounting methodoligies that can pass one-off capital expenses but can't authorise ongoing expenses (wages) and the budgets are so inflexible they can't re-allocate money from capital to revenue budgets.

My digital photo's are on my computer and if I want to share them I use email or print them out.

And why would I want to access my home bookmarks from work?
If they knew half the stuff I looked at I would either be fired or have to quit through embarrisment.

House prices aren't governed by interest rates directly.

In general terms total value of house prices = total value of mortgages.

Back in the 70's for a mortgage it was 3 times the main wage-earners wage. With average house prices roughly 3.5 times national average wage.
They then changed it to 3 x main earners + 1 x spouses earnings.
Then 3.5 x main earners + 3.5 x spouses
Then it went from 60% LTV to 100%
Then it went to 3.5 main earners + 3.5 spouse + parents wages
Then self certification 3.5 x whatever you like. With the average house price 10 times national average wage.

At each stage the amount available for mortgages increased which ment house prices increased.

I could afford to buy my parents house when they moved there in the early 80's (£40,000 house at 10% interest rates) but I cant afford to buy a small flat today (£200,000 at 0.5% interest rates).
