What did you think of the show? Guest: Ricky Tomlinson 10:15pm on 23 Apr 2009 I suppose Christine Bleakley might be forgiven as an Irish woman for
supposing that the English would for one moment 'break out the Union Flag' on St Georges Day. However, as a presenter surely someone would advise her that the English Flag is the Cross of St George.

As for Arther Smith (whoever he is), well, being a modest Englishman
perhaps I'd better not voice my views. Suffice it to ask, do we really pay these people out of our Broadcast Tax?

Please tell me they volunteer this rubbish for nothing.
Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross, Andrew Sachs and the BBC. 5:37pm on 28 Oct 2008 I know nothing of Russell Brand or is it Bland and thankfully very little of Mr Ross, but it these two buffoons need to resort to this sort of behaviour to raise a laugh, it suggests to me they are humourists of very limited ability.

How the heck Mr Ross can command such a ridiculously high salary (to which I contribute) and enjoy almost celebrity status has always baffled me.

I know if I had indulged in such a cheap stunt my employers would have sacked me for gross misconduct and these two deserve no less.

Get rid of them NOW and spend the savings on something worthwhile!
John McCain's running mate? 5:50pm on 29 Aug 2008 I simply don't understand why so much BBC airtime is being devoted to the political events in the USA. Until all the hulabaloo dies down and Americans actually vote for their new President I am not interested.

There are far more demanding national issues to occupy you without flying across the Atlantic. For example equality for the English - that alone should keep you busy for months.

Suggest a story for May 3 5:58pm on 03 May 2008 May I also add my views on this topic. As an 'rural oil user' not only are we penalised by the ever rising cost of oil/oil delivery and the obvious threat of theft, and the added cost of VAT but neither can we enjoy any dual fuel discounts.

My (partial) solution was to install solar water heating but this is expensive the grants are pathetic (this government is clearly not encouraging individuals to reduce domestic power consumption). You have to calculate whether the pay back period is worthwhile (will you live long enough/live in your house long enough). But if you do at least in the summer period you can save a lot on the oil and still enjoy hot baths when the sun shines. Even in winter the sun on a frosty morning will take the edge off the otherwise near freezing water thus saving a little oil.

But really the government could be a little more generous with the heating allowance for those of us on fixed incomes - but don't hold your breath. Heat or eat is the motto for Labour.
