I believe I'm right in saying that Obama said he'd take the public funding if McCain did the same? I think when you announce something like that, where what you're doing is conditional on something your opponent does, you should stick to it.

However, had he just announced that he was taking public funding then changed his mind I don't think there'd have been anything wrong with that.

Are you really saying that the BBC should go in to arms dealing? Really? Perhaps they should buy a 30% stake in the Real IRA while they're at it.
First anniversary 11:07am on 01 Oct 2008 It's produced by BBC World, so not paid for by your (or my) licence fee. It's funded by advertisers.

No doubt some money will change hands from the BBC News Channel to BBC World in order to show it in the UK, but that's purely a technicality anyway since any profits made by BBC World are fed back to the UK BBC in order to supplement licence fee incomes.
BBC on a bus and box road trip 12:32pm on 12 Sep 2008 Now we find that the licence payer is funding a lengthy bus trip around the USA in order to provide even more 'news' on the topic.

I'd imagine this would be paid for by BBC Worldwide (ie advertisers), rather than the licence fee.
Faux giddiness 09:26am on 22 Aug 2008 I've had a thought regarding this mystical text message. I'm no expert on these things, but is it even possible to send out a text message to thousands (tens of thousands? hundreds of thousands?) of people at the same time? With my limited knowledge of such things, I'd expect that the sending would have to be staggered over a number of hours at least. Meaning that, even if the first people to receive it are genuinely the first people to know, most people will hear first online.

I could be wrong though.
