Owen lifts Man Utd's Euro hopes 10:55am on 10 Dec 2009 Ha! You just KNEW that Phil McNulty would have a blog about Owen's England chances after Tuesday. The man is obsessed. The number of times you have made the same points over and over is unbelievable. "Benitez missed out" "Masterstroke by Ferguson" etc. The fact is, this time is probably the most justified occasion on which to blog on Owen and England but you have raved about it that many times it is BORING. Whether you admit it or not, you are undoubtedly campaigning for him to be recalled and in turn are letting it affect your work. The Man City draw was turned into the michael owen report too. I happen to agre Owen should go to SA but c'mon... how many times do we need to read you say it Phil?
Capello's World Cup contenders 12:20pm on 15 Oct 2009 Amazed you think Owen will go. I am a big fan and hope for your sake he does because he is fantastic, but there has been no evidence since Capello took over your team that Owens going to be going to SA. He should, i agree, but do you seriously think he will?

Beckham should go to SA without a DOUBT! The most looked up to player in your squad, been there, seen it, done it. I find that in English football more than any other nation, there is an obsession with players over 30 suddenly being rotten. Rio's now "past it" too i read on a bbc forum the other day. Beckham is a role model of the pitch, a great influence to the squad. On the pitch - he is the best passer in the team, will run untill he no longer can, and if theres a free kick outside that box and beckhams on the park, the chances of it going in increase by about 10%! Put it this way, the Cannavaros, Verons, Frings of the world will be at the world cup in their 30's for 3 of the possible winning teams. Get Beckham in and lets get over this "omg he's 34!" rubbish.

Some real surprises in there, but good to see such an honest opinion and an insight into some players you don't hear about as much. The fact there was 4 Celtic players mentioned considering you only spent such a short time there speaks volumes for how highly you rated those players. People from south of the border are percieved to have a negative and slighlty snobbish attutude towards the Scottish game but any English player who has sampled life up here seems to thrive on it and give it far more credit than those who haven't. The Larsson argument is boring, he does not need justified as to why he is held in such a high regard - just ask Europes elite who faced him in the Champions League or Uefa Cup, World Cups and Euro's how good he is and I am sure they will tell you. Allan Johnstone, i had never realised just how successful he was at Sunderland.

Drogba inflicts pain on Liverpool 10:36am on 05 Oct 2009 I get the impression Terry doesnt even like Drogba. It was embarassing for the forward when Terry you could see telling him to get up and get on with it. I also noticed at the end of the game when they were doing their huddle, that when drogba threw his arm around Terry, JT quicky took it back off and left the huddle. But what a player he is! Immense yesterday.

As for Liverpool, how did Benitez ever think Riera was going to be the required standard to win the PL?! Did he not study him at Man City years ago. Not convinced by the left back Insua or whatever he's called or Lucas. Liverpool will, on the back of recent displays, never win the PL with this squad. I happen to think though that Benitez has a lot to answer for - how many players do you think he has now signed in his tenure in charge and how many have worked out? Would love to know so if anyone does - please let us know!

Chelsea or Man Utd for the title. Arsenal 3rd. City/Spurs/Liverpool for 4th, 5th and 6th - could be in any order though.
Winners and boozers 1:11pm on 28 Sep 2009 Harry Redknapps pub The Irritating Sun actually lets you take back any old pint you have bought from the boozer before and he will buy it back off you - no matter how old or flat it has gone over time.

Ferguson revels in classic win 12:11pm on 21 Sep 2009 Firstly, great game to watch - loved it!

On the time added, yes the time is the same for both teams but i think the point is, is would it have still been added had Man City been the ones chasing a winner and not Utd?? Not sure. Celebrations do not get added on to the stoppage time normally so an excessive one should only be added if its the EXCESSIVE amount of time added - eg an average celebration is say, 30sec... therefore the ref would have added 25 for Bellamys. Know what I mean?

What i find amazing bout Utd is their team is laced with players who arent exactly superstars - O'Shea, Fletcher, Park and a near 36 year old Giggs (best player on park btw) yet as a team they are awesome. Great 2nd half and I am really pleaed for Owen, who deserves a bit of luck - top class finish, good on him.

Joleon Lescott... i have never seen the fascination with him. I doesnt even look well co-ordinated to play football let alone a regualr at a top 4 hopeful side. £24m? No chance. Not even worth £5m in my honest opinion.

Getting ready for the Steel City derby 1:35pm on 17 Sep 2009 Was always disappointed you never stayed beyond your loan at celtic - we were crying out for a left back for the next 2 years! Hope you still keep a wee eyte on the results north of the border. All the best.
Diving me crazy 2:02pm on 28 Aug 2009 As someone else said - you know what you get from the blog so if you dont like it why keep reading it?! It is the alternative blog to the ones by Phil McNulty, Mihir Bose etc (which are i enjoy too). A lighter hearted way of discussing things but still major talking points highlighted nonetheless. Stick at it Robbo.

As a celtic man, i was disappointed in Eduardo, a player i had built up a genuine like for after fighting back from his injury, now however i will always remember he cheated to win a penalty and kill off the tie. Admittedly it was 99% certain the gunners would of qualified anyway. Just sad seeing him do that and leaving Boruc to be left feeling sick to his stomach.

As for the shirt, Robbo, the bumble bee is the smartest thing about!!
