Dubai: Wholly avoidable crisis 11:55am on 30 Nov 2009 If I have got this right this crisis happened because too much money was put into property and when the bubble that resulted popped everybody got nervous cause of the lack of transparency, lack of openness by the creditors who are used to working behind closed doors.

So, where next? Shanghai?

Nothing in the public sector is value for money. The Home Office is not fit for purpose. I wouldn't trust the MoD to procure my lavvy paper. The Student Loans Company can't be trusted to give away money. And if I ever visit London I will be very vary of the cops.

For too long a job in the public sector has been a job for life, no matter how much you make a mess.

This will not improve until we get a Thatcher for the Civil and Other Public Services.

Hey Dave (in my world DC is David Coulthard), it would seem that the country is coming out of recession and while I loathe the man I admire the way that the PM has dealt with the recession.

When I put my cross on the ballot paper next year it will be put against the candidate for the party that I believe will make the best job of sustaining that recovery.

I doubt that I will pick the party that seems to prefer bickering over Europe to one that has its eyes firmly on the economy.

Ah, so another asset price bubble appears.

I hope the fallout from the pricking of this particular bubble is not going to be too severe. What is the exposure of Goldman Sachs (and the other banks) to this asset price bubble? Are they going to need more state aid when it pops?

I don't know who is more stupid, the bankers or the taxpayers who have been suckered into supporting their recklessness.

Thank you to the hackers that busted IE and thank you to the Microsoft programmers for being so slow with the fix. Without your help I would not have downloaded Firefox and consigned IE to the bin marked second rate.
Wikipedia is censored 2:13pm on 08 Dec 2008 The IWF has not blocked access to the image. It has put the page on a list of webpages that it finds unacceptable. If the picture was on a child porn website instead of an album cover I am sure there would be no complaints about it being on the list.

It is the ISPs that block access to the pages on the IWF list. As is it their right to block access to anything they wish. No one should be focred to carry traffic they find unacceptable. Be it spam, child porn or hate pages.

In short, their servers their rules.

Now it is up to the customers of the ISPs to decide if they can live with those rules. If not take your money elsewhere.
