Brilliant Strauss leads from the front 00:39am on 17 Jul 2009 I don't think this pitch is a 500 minimum at all. Granted, Aussies are lucky for us to not have the same score but for 3-4 less wickets but if we can bowl well, then there's DEFINITELY some assistance. Swing, seam and a tiny bit of tweak - If we bowl as well as the openers batted, we'll be laughing.

Can see Flintoff being the saviour with the ball rather than bat as he has done for a few years now.

If you are willing to dedicate your entire international career to one nation, regardless of whether the tie you have to that country is thin, then it should be allowed. We allow people of other nationality with even less ties to the country in to contribute to our society and sport is no different.

The problem with Athletics is the ease in which an athlete can change the nationality they represent with the ability to do so even DURING the process of citizenship.

I believe the only thing that I am against is a sporting professional representing a country when they have already represented another country - if anything else simply for the example that athlete can be setting to youngsters around the world. As we know, in a lot of sports this is against the rules but some sports are more lenient than others in allowing this to happen.

Real Madrid is famous for building up a team of superstars and failing because they cannot gel, don't care for the team and only care about the winning element of that team.

Manchester United is famous for building up a team of players who love playing for the club and will do anything to make them succeed - it just so happens that most of the players are high quality as well.

Sir Alex will spend the money wisely because I think even he will admit that some of his transfer dealings have been awful, but he learns from them even at his age. I think they'll play with a lot more freedom without Ronaldo and I think the dressing room atmosphere will be greatly improved without SUCH a big ego.

All those suggesting that he will at some point move to Barcelona - there's no chance. Their mentality is even more 'For the team' than anyones. He's too selfish and big headed for Barcelona. He's at the right team to suit his personality and game so it's good all round.

I'll be glad to get rid of the frustration of seeing a player that is brilliant one minute and petulent the next!

You're suggesting that if Vidic wasn't in the team then they wouldn't be winning so many, and that a lot of the players are missing or out of form.

Facts are:

1) Vidic IS in defence, and players like that make champions
2) Man United are top of the league with out of form big players

Does it not concern you that when Rooney is back, and if top players like Berba and Ronaldo hit top form that Man U are going to walk away with it? It's certainly what I think's going to happen from here on in!
Keeping it real at the Lakeside 4:24pm on 07 Jan 2009 People are taking this 'blog' completely out of context. This is not a BBC sports report by which someone is completely siding with the BDO. It's essentially the goings on of that particular day / week / experience.

We all know the PDC is the better darts, and we all know it's more of that boxing-esque entertainment, but that's sky and that's what a lot of people want to see - if darts is to appeal to a wider audience, it has to appeal and be more aggressive and in your face. PDC does this.

It does seem that BDO is for the purists as far as viewing goes, but i reckon if you asked any darts fan (regardless of what the crowd is like or the TV coverage is like) which players they'd like to see, most would say players of the PDC.
FA Cup never loses magic 1:09pm on 05 Jan 2009 I think the public perception is that the FA cup has become devalued, simply because they see premier league teams fielding weaker sides and assume it's because they don't want to win it. Much to the contrary.

The simple fact is that, the 3rd round of this competition especially, comes at a time when a) teams all have an agenda and a reason to keep their best players fit (whether it's avoiding relegation, staying out of relegation or reaching europe / winning the title), and b) it's a massively congested time of year for football.

on seperate points, I do believe semi-finals shouldn't be played at Wembley - let's remember they only are to pay off some of the Wembley debt! It probably won't be the case forever.

Also, There is no way on earth that the winner of the FA cup should be launched into the Champions League qualifiers. There is no justification for a team scraping a few results together to replace a team that has been around the top of the premier league for 38 games. The champions league by nature is the best of each nation - this would contradict it.

Mourinho will relish Man Utd test 02:00am on 20 Dec 2008 Post #2 - Mourinho wouldn't know what to do with 2 wingers? He suited his tactics to the players Chelsea had at their disposal. Chelsea haven't had a good true winger for years and never did when he was in charge. If he had adopted a wide approach to Chelsea during his realm just for the sake, they would have been ripped apart.

I believe Mourinho is the front runner to the Man United post if he wants it. As class as O'Neill is, nobody can truly say he has proved his worth at TOP top level with the big money players like Mourinho has - and not many managers have. With a job the size of replacing Fergie's record, who better than a manager that beat him to the title in 2 consecutive seasons?

It would be beautiful to see private teams on low budgets compete in F1, but I just can't see it happening. I don't think the 'credit crunch' will effect any aspect of life for more than a few years and after a year or so I think things will start to pick up again.

Cost reductions will probably happen a little bit, but not enough for competitiveness to switch much from what it is
