Im probably in the small majority of people here with my views. However I think the 2% mobile useage and the rating out of 10 kind of backs me up!

I really dont think the mobile phone experience is much good at all other than as a minor supporting role to the two main formats, TV and online. The BBC sport website (im not just saying this) is by far my faveourite website for sports news, I as a spectator follow ALL sports (literally) and spend a good - read too much - amount of time daily getting all the latest news and often follow cricket / tennis / football etc live on the website. it really is excellent and nowadays contains lots of video footage both highlights and live stream.

I think this along with watching things on the TV is more than enough to be honest. I just have never been taken by the concept of ppl crowding round a little mobile phone to watch highlights or live footage, i cant see it happening, I (maybe wrongly) can just imagine it to be problematic, buffering, poor stream quality etc, and just difficult to manage. (im not a fan of the blackberry iphone generation this must be said) I just find it all a bit fiddly.

I imagine mobile phones could play a role in text/picture information. information that doesnt place too much strain on the network etc and could be quickly and easily accessible such as written reports and even the live text commentary could work as well as limited video stuff perhaps. I just know I can tell you how much I will rely on my mobile to follow the olympics - 0%. I think mobile technlogoy was quite good in 2008 and only 2% used it with a 5/10 rating. says it all.

I think the temptation is to try and use the new technologies too much simply because they are available and are considered by marketing men as "cool" and "what the kids want". I think however that tv and online does the business. Id put more time and effort into making improvements and updates to the website to keep improving on this excellent service.

The comparison with a doctor or a person chairing their bleeding watch meeting is poor, they are not doing so representing England in international competition! the same is true of Joyce and Morgan.

now im one of those english fans that doesnt care, if pietersen and trott get 800 runs in the test series i will be over the moon, but i can see where these fans coming from, its a fair point to make, and as for xenophobic? i can only assume politics isnt your strong point!

Agassi confession lengthens shadow of doubt 5:47pm on 28 Oct 2009 Im glad that most people that have replied, like me, find mr overand's article a bit laughable to be honest! He is not a drugs cheat, he didnt "get away with" anything, other than having his career completely ruined due to a desperate act in a moment of depression. It is, contrary to mr overand's surprising assertion, COMPLETELY different to an athlete who takes illegal drugs to enhance his performance.

To suggest they are one and the same is madness. Take a chill pill mr overand, get off your extremely tall moral high horse.
2010's dress rehearsal 12:57pm on 29 Jun 2009 Did someone in FIFA or the South African FA 'kindly ask' you to not mention the state of the pitches in your blog? It was the stand out issue watching on TV and I (and it seems I am not alone) cannot believe you did not bring it up once.

The jeers and not enough cheers in Turin 3:43pm on 12 Mar 2009 I am really happy that these blogs exist so we can pur the well deserved shame on the likes of Steve Cram, Edwards, Jackson and the rest. I have been following the whole Chambers debate from Gibraltar as a neutral observer, the treatment of the BBC presenters and just the general attitude towards him is just BORING and thoroughly unprofessional.

The majority of posters on this debate are in agreement on this, IT IS TIME TO MOVE ON.

The way the likes of Cram and the rest keep harping on about it is frankly embarassing. I hope he and the others are reading this blog, hopefully they will learn that their constant battering of Chambers carries NO WEIGHT among the public.

I really enjoy the fact that Chambers is so superior to all the rubbish that GB athletics is churning out (in the sprint department anyway) and the sour grapes on show are so obvious so as to make it laughable.

I hope Cram et al are embarassed when they read back over this blog. To the Editors, I recommend a drastic change in approach!!

And as anyone with a brain knows (obviously not these "journalists") it was not Chambers' decision to serialise his book in a newspaper when it actually happened, but the editor of that newspaper!!
Keeping it real at the Lakeside 1:09pm on 07 Jan 2009 Im sure most people will agree with me that watching the PDC and seeing (for example) '180 - 180 - 140 - 137 - 140' type sequences, with the crowd going absolutely mental, gets the juices flowing immensely, this is the kind of fare that is regular at the PDC events, especially the latter stages, only need to watch anyone from the likes of taylor, barney, wade, hamilton, klaasen, baxter, jenkins, part , king etc etc they all produce this stuff. its brilliant

You seem to be missing the point that in darts, averages ARE everything. Darts is not an athletic sport, there are so few variables in the sport that it doesnt have that much going for it to make it an interesting sport.

The ONLY thing that makes darts fun to watch, is high scoring and big checkouts.

No one wants to waste their evening watching largely overweight englishmen throwing "60....41....85....100...23....95....140....83...." there just isnt enough variables etc to make that worthwhile. The averages clearly show, this is what you get year in year out in the BDO. I really like watching the PDC darts, because I know im going to see guys at the top of their game throwing big numbers and big checkouts. There is absolutely no attraction in watching men in a quiet hall throwing average darts.... I dont watch the BDO but the thought of watching a tourney where mid 80s average can win the whole thing.....*shudder*

Averages DO matter in darts, because darts can only be a good spectacle if great darts are being thrown. PDC all the way

Well done to the guy who mentioned mccullum! he would arguably have the wicket keeper's slot Id say...

As most seem to agree on, Flintoff, (4 tests or otherwise) is without a doubt one of the top bowlers in international cricket, his spell yesterday on a flat wicket , regularly hitting 150kms/h was highly impressive, and he has been doing it all year. I remember reading a Justin Langer column on this website this summer, he wrote about him and Tres facing Flintoff in a county game, saying it was utterly fearsome!!

Agreed that team of 08 should be Amla over Ponting.

Yes I know only 4 bowlers, but 3 fantastic quick bowlers, one mystery spinner and sehwag and KP to tweak it a bit. My other choice would be to leave Hussey out and put murali in there. Flintoff at 7 then, theres still enough batting in that side Id say!
