If administration means clearing debt and the points penalty means a drop to league 2 and this is what it takes to get back to a sound financial footing then it may be best to accept it.

All clubs should always pay up what they owe to HM Revenue, which should be handed over or kept to one side as soon as the money rolls through the tills. Any other group that is owed money will often have little incentive to wind you up due to getting nothing as most clubs are not really holding lots of valuable assets to sell, but alas HM Revenue have to keep their eye on the wider position which means ruining one club to make it clear to other clubs not to owe them money.

Anyway, as an Exeter fan, I'm now off to view the Clydbank FC site, as I now finally have a reason to pick a Scots team! Fingers crossed you play in red and white too!
Banks must invest trust in Scottish clubs 12:48pm on 31 Oct 2009 No.1 - you are correct in that sense. The problem is the servicing of that debt. You've agreed to pay x back over y period or to pay interest arising on it. So you need cash to do that. Your 'assets' have a value but they do not necessarily produce cash and with banks not lending then cash is king, as you can only run out of cash once.

I'm not sure why the banks are being battered over this though. Is it because everything else gets battered in Scotland anyway :-)
New world order, deferred 9:28pm on 25 Sep 2009 to no. 5 - last time I checked we voted a party in and not an individual - other countries do different but this is our way, so to say he has no mandate is not entirely accurate as he has the Labour party mandate...until the election at least!
Hester: fast recovery "dangerous" 01:50am on 13 Sep 2009 The comments about outsourcing jobs to Indians is intersting, as most peoples' experiences (generally poor) come from the call centre exodus a decade ago, which most companies have now reversed. The new trend is to outsource the back offices as this is not visible to the end consumer, which as a rule struggle to identify with 'globalisation' and think of more Nationalistic terms.

The RBS posters on here seem to imply that this outsourcing is bringing in inexperienced staff to replace experienced staff, so in the long term they should suffer yet whilst backed by the government they will not fail so I have sympathy for the staff as again, it seems top layer management are blindly hitting whatever targets set by whatever methods so they can earn their bonuses. No doubt they 'identified' simple processes which must be easy and can therefore be outsourced, which is annoying the staff in the UK who actualy understand the role they do and have the accumulation of years of experience to be able to deal efficiently with the stuff that falls outside of a tick box process. Alas, this is seemingly the norm these days and UK staff are powerless to complain for fear of being labelled racist or fear of identifying themselves to be top of the queue to be chopped.

I suspect this is going on in all major companies, as herd metality prevails and they will all be benchmarked against themselves, meaning if one cuts costs the rest will follow to do the same thinking the other has an advantage.

At some point I guess the Indians will be in trouble too as their wages must be rising in real terms and against the currancy year on year, so Cambodia, Laos and other impoverished African states will be next to gain.

I'd rather not participate if there was even 1% chance we could lose national identity and be forced to start partaking in World and Euro Cups as GB.

I don't get the argument about there being a team GB for hockey, boxing etc...so what?? I think there is a Catalan team in one sport (handball possibly but can't recall) but that does not prove that Spain should be split up in all the other sports!
Lend, lend, lend 7:43pm on 18 Jan 2009 #79 - £20m to Gaza I guarantee will not be additional money being given to them; rather, it will be £20m allocated from the aid budget that was probably ear-marked for someone else being transferred.

Gordie will be using his usual sleight of hand tricks here. I'd be surprised if that amount was not already being given to them in earlier years anyway and he has just repeated a figure (which is his other trick).

Still, I feel sorry for the Gazans, I expect they'd rather have €20 Euros!

FA Cup never loses magic 5:57pm on 04 Jan 2009 To 12#, if you were gardening rather than watching the cup final then how did you know it was a poor cup final?

Having a final that is not entertaining because it is two teams outside the big 4 does not point to a lack of quality. It merely points to an individual poor game.
How many years of poor finals were there before West Ham v Liverpool, yet most of those were between the big teams!
