Oft-asked question 3:23pm on 01 Dec 2008 Now we're reading comments from senior police officers within the investigation, who are leaking what is going on! It's like the met are terminally thick, a leak investigation leaking, good grief.

1) how do you know Brown didn't 'groom' a civil servant to leak information? Seeing as he wasn't arrested and interviewed by the police we don't know.

2) Harman wasn't an MP at the time she was arrested.
Further VAT rise was considered 12:10pm on 28 Nov 2008 Why no thread on green? It's quite a large story, or is Nick being a brave boy again and resisting political pressure.
Storm over Corfu 1:05pm on 23 Oct 2008 The different ways the two stories have been covered is startling. The accusations against Mandelson have been barely covered, indeed Nick Robinson 'resisted' covering them, and is now trying to claim he was 'resisting political pressure'. Then why did he not resist with Osbourne? The two stories are linked, but Mandelsons part was all but ignored by the BBC until late yesterday.
Agenda pressure 1:03pm on 23 Oct 2008 So you 'resisted' pressure when it came to the Mandelson story, but went gung ho for the Osbourne story? Odd that, makes me wonder why the Osbourne story was seen to be more important? Plus it was amazing watching you and Peston (why was he there?) going all out attack on it. You made the story out to be a major scandal, and whats happened? It's blown out. No-one will investigate as there seems to have been no wrong doing (despite your continued claims to the contrary).
Back to the future 4:32pm on 01 Oct 2008 Good speech. He made some good points, didn't make any vague promises of tax cuts to try and gain cheap votes, and struck a sombre mood. All in all very well done in these bad financial times. I wonder how many people will start posting here claiming to be long term tory supporters who want more substance?
Cleaning up 2:32pm on 18 Sep 2008 You also predicted the same thing a few days back, just before a whole load of MP's rebelled including a minister. In fact Nick, your usually wrong.
Will Wall Street save Brown? 2:01pm on 16 Sep 2008 Why is he best placed? He was chancellor for 11 years, during which he dealt with no major financial crisis. Now he's PM and has a massive one (partially of his own creation) to deal with. The finances of the country are in a bad shape because of his prior actions, he's destroyed his financial credibility by those actions and new ones such as the 10p tax bodge, all of which are more than enough to make him look incompetant. The only people who see him as brilliant are labour.
A political emergency 6:31pm on 13 May 2008 The 10p tax rate abolition was done to wrong foot the tories, it created a massive political backlash against labour and destroyed their record (what little there is) on economic competance. Now they're BORROWING billions in order to cover up their ineptitude, in order to try and wrong foot the tories AGAIN to win a by election. You couldn't make up the mind numbing stupidity of this entire fiasco.
