Collapse of confidence in banks 2:43pm on 19 Jan 2009 As Pres Bush would say. You can fool me once but then you cant fool...but dont fool me...If you fool me once er dont trick me twice.. er.. Dose anyone know what the hell is going on, as under normal trading conditions I would be up to my armpits in bank shares right now.

Taxpayer support for big companies 09:00am on 16 Jan 2009 As I have said many times on this blog, a new sociopolitical order will emerge from all this upheaval but it WILL keep the Status quo.

The people who control will continue to do so and the those who are controlled will not even blink. They are and will always continue to be assets milked for there labour and tax. The labour because it is needed to create the added value to make the profit, and taxed to keep the non working non capitalists in power.

Now Roberts question at the end there about the balance of power changing for the better or worse is, in my view, not aimed at the poor working Joe but rather the politician and the capitalist. Obviously the balance will change in favour of the politician as he now has his hands on all the cash, our cash. However, capitalists will seek to regain the upper hand that they have enjoyed since WWII.

So the outcome of this battle could be Social Capitalism under a Labour Gov or Capitalist Socialism under a Tory Gov. Whichever party is in power they will be up against big biz looking to use their power, thats us the working Joe to bring about political change via unrest at working conditions or lack of them.

So the weapons of choice are known, the battle field well trod, it is now time for the show.
The cost of bringing banks home 09:53am on 14 Jan 2009 #26 -DisgustedOfMitcham2 - Hmmmm. Now about the gov lending to biz. It goes like this. Take JCB which makes or made construction machines. No construction equals no demand equals no jobs equals biz lost equals skills lost. However, when construction picks up it will need machines but as UK is out of the JCB biz so we will need to go abroad for them which equals lower GDP which equals people saying why did the gov not lend JCB the money to get over the rough times. QED.

Not for being chancellor, but for his ability to dodge questions, remain calm and appear superior to the interviewer. Even at his peak, teflon could not have done better.
The cost of bringing banks home 09:08am on 14 Jan 2009 We all know that people who seek elected to office are in politics because they are unsuited for real jobs and just want to be on the telly. So, unelected ministers brought in via peerage to do the jobs of the elected, seems to me to be a jolly good idea. At least we know that they can actually do the job.

Yet more tax money being wasted. How are we to repay all this money with tax from an economy which is in free fall and future tax revenues of any kind are doubtful.
Taxpayers' short-term loans to business 9:11pm on 13 Jan 2009 18 months ago, on this blog and the the BBC HYS web site, I predicted where we are today, although I did say a few more banks would have failed than have. However, the course of events have so far followed the logical route, with all parties acting out there predictable roles perfectly.

The next stage I believe is now fully underway. Bit by bit all economies which are fully interwovern in the Global market will, planned or unplanned, gain greater and greater control and ownership of the wealth creating elements of their own economies.

The taxpayer will in effect own everything but have no control or say over them. The status quo MUST be maintained at ANY cost.

Bail outs by the worlds governments will be looked back on as a stealthy and sly move to nationalisation. A new sociopolitical order is emerging and I for one wonder how much pain its birth will bring.

I wonder what will be the next shining example of British world leading excellence in business and finance.

How many more UK economy coffin nails can we take and still have people here say it is all due to Roberts doom and gloom?
