Ask Bearders #183 12:36pm on 04 Dec 2008 In response to Andy (question 25), I think that if a fielder attempting a run out returns the ball to the stumps and hits them and then the ball flies off somewhere, but the batsmen have both made their ground, the ball should be considered dead. As the laws stand at present, batsmen can scamper another run or two as the ball is re-retrieved, and that to me is unfair. It happens regularly, and why should the fielding side be penalised for a smart piece of work in the field by conceding a further run or two?
TMS changes explained 7:44pm on 20 Aug 2008 What a load of absolute rubbish, Mr Mountford, your comments are an insult to the readers of this blog and the programme's listeners. To say that Mark Pougatch is the only newer commentators to have worked on TMS this summer is disingenuous at best and simply untrue at worst; Simon Mann is a newer commentator, Do you really think that Shaun Pollock "made a very encouraging debut this summer"? You have to be joking. Pollock's insights such as "he'll be disappointed with that shot" are depressing. He's been ghastly, a pointless addition. Finally, Alec Stewart, as agent to some of the players, should not be allowed near the TMS box. Are you not aware of the phrase 'conflict of interest'?
Ask Bearders #176 2:25pm on 20 Aug 2008 In a recent limited-overs Sunday friendly match I played in, our third-change bowler was forced to abort an over after two deliveries having sustained an injury. A team-mate who had not previously bowled in the match completed the over, but had it been an international or domestic cup tie, would a bowler who had already completed his allocation of overs been allowed to complete his injured team-mate's over?
