England's high hopes 09:42am on 04 Dec 2009 The cynics which on the one hand i sometimes agree is that for some strange reason we have not won a competition since 1966. I say it is odd is because during the 70's and early 80's our clubs without foreign players ruled europe although a British team would have probably have been unbeatable. The game has changed and developed and all countries are able to compete. Lets not be foolish if you go into competition thinking you will lose you the likeliness s that you will more likely lose. I see it on the pitch at grass roots when my son plays. Of course skill pace and natural ability is important but confidence can completely change the result.
If Brazil are not confident they wont win and they are expected to win everytime ,much more than England. They changed their philosophy ,they are less attractive to watch, they have less big names but make no mistake they are the team to beat. Their weakness is that they have difficulty beating lesser sides and they find it difficult to open up teams that just defend.
Spain have more technically gifted players and are my favourites. They will believe they can win their first world cup.
I have to be honest i think england will do well if they get to the semis. I think englands strength is that they can change a game against all opposition but are very poor in defense. We will have to rely on a daid james to get fit because the others are poor. Glen johnson is excellant going forward but can get caught out all the time defensively. Who is going to play with Terry , there are lots but a fully fit ferdinand is a must. Ashley cole is getting better. For some reason passing and keeping the ball is a problem. i hope powen hargreaves can get fit because i am not convinced that barry can improve. Gerrard and Rooney are out talisman like kaka and luis fabiano for brazil. anyway it will be interesting to see the draw

1.All england players make mistakes,their not italian.
2.All england players cannot defend,their not italian.
3.All england players especially rooney are not intelligent,their not italian.
4.It looks like Portugal and Argentina are going to make it to the finals so best look forward to going out on penalties in the quarter finals.
5.David James is 40 next year,same age as Dino Zoff when Italy won the world cup in 1982. If we can avoid players being sent off and not missing penalties we have a good chance. Simples!
Capello can plot World Cup glory 12:43pm on 10 Sep 2009 its so funny how england can never win anything until the cup is in the hands. we cannot praise them when they win and there useless overpaid prats when they lose.
Clearly capello is a winner. He even came back to Madrid and won la liga after he won it before. He wins everything for what team he manages.
Am i saying we are the best in the world clearly not, can we win it ,its very possible with a little luck . Presumably we will have to beat Spain or Brazil on the way and they will be winners.
Up until the defeat to USA Spain were my favourites. Brazil are always going to be there. The heat will not play a part and therefore this is on our side. Our teams appear to be getting to finals and if we make the final i would be happy win or lose as long as we dont lose on penalties.
Why Ronaldo is leaving Manchester for Madrid 5:06pm on 11 Jun 2009 Up until Barcelona beat manu in champions league i did not and have not found the la liga of no interest what so ever. Next season this will change the arrival of kaka and ronaldo at real is exciting and one to challenege Barcelona.
Man U were well beaton by Barcelona and ferguson knew it. By losing the final and ronaldo will give him a challenge again to build anoher winning squad and gives other teams the chane to challenge for honours. I think overall like before with becks van niselroy etc it is a good deal for evryone
From prodigy to superstar 2:48pm on 27 May 2009 I think evryone is forgetting that it is a team game and although these two are the big headliners for their respective teams the result will be down to unfinite detail of the team and tactics. I dont watch spanish football because it sends me too sleep although i believe we have the two best teams in the world in the final. Lets not forget how good Man U are at passing but they also can do the less attractive things like getting everyone behind the ball and the heading of Vidic at the back.
I also believe Man U are the more complete package with more match winners than Barca. The player i like the most in barcelona is iniesta whom rarely looses possession or gives the ball away. However iniesta does not makes to runs into the box and messi the will find it difficult to beat the manu defence. Furthermore Barcelona have no big hitters of the ball outside the penalty area unlike manu whom Ronaldo and Rooney can score from 30 to 40 yards. The problems are going to be defensively for barcelona with pique and puyol almost certain to be overrun by rooney and ronaldo and berbatov and possibly tevez. Although i hope for a exciting 3-2 game it could be a potentially embarrasing defeat for Messi and co as the young man comes up against the master in Sir Alex My prediction is 3-1 to manu ronaldo rooney and berbatov, iniesta consolation goal.
Europa League has its merits 12:25pm on 21 May 2009 UEFA should give the winners of the UEFA cup entry into the champions league (at the group stages).
It would at least encourage clubs like Villa and Spurs to actually try and win the competition, as well as giving a route into the biggest competition for clubs which otherwise might not be able to make it.

I agree great idea, i wonder how long it will take platini and his mates to think of that one! Does anyone know if the the champions league rejects will come in at the knockout stage because this is a farce that allows the bigger teams a second chance of success.
Big Phil's Big Chelsea Chill 4:40pm on 06 Jan 2009 just wanted to make an independant comment of the feud between Liverpool and Chelsea bloggers.
I would say that their is a greater chance that Chelsea will fall away than Liverpool.
Liverpool have a much better team spirit than Chelsea.
I think big rom is getting fed up with football and will not waste his hard earned cash any longer.
Big Phil could walk out ,he has the temperament to do so because he is not good enough. The players are always whining and complaining of this and that!
Football is a simple game up to the point of Benitez whom always surprises me and i bet alot of other managers with his tactics and selection.
For me Mourinihio wins things and his teams will never play attractive football like Barcelona and Man U. Benitez is the best manager out there at the mo and only fergie the master can get one over on him.

My prediction is that Chelsea and Arsenal will win nothing.
Its going to be a fight between Man U and Liverpool for prem. Man u could do the slam but i believe Barcelona are the best team in Europe at the mo.
Its great that the richest are not necessarily the best i.e man city and chelsea.
As a villa fan i think you did not give us a fair shout as i believe we have done the best out of all the teams and can break the top four or top three if we can beat chelsea at villa park.
