Rumblings of discontent 6:54pm on 28 Aug 2009 Messageboards and phone ins are entirely unrepresentitive of what people think. Those who feel the need to shout loudest are attracted to both - so you cannot judge anything by them.

My work place has 12 employees - we were discussing this last week. All but 2 thought it was the wrong decision. That 2 didnt care one way of the other. Some of the 10 were swaying the other way due to the hysterical and hypocritical US reaction.

Me personally I was swaying but with a lot of thought I think it was wrong. He could have staying in Scotland without any problems - despite what some say - and we would have not had all this.

Personally I think McAskill was trying to make an example - I think he really chose the wrong subject although the idea was right.
Where next on Megrahi? 10:30pm on 25 Aug 2009 Im a SNP voter and a very open minded one thats voted for all of the major parties over the years.

Im not sure what McAskill was up to here. Was he trying to prove a point to the world? Is Salmond trying to show that Scotland can make big decisions on its own?

Whatever way I look at it I cannot take the result as the correct one. First it should not be left to one politician to make this decision.

Surely common sense suggests that by all means show some compassion - let his family come over etc. BUT he is no matter what we think of his guilt (I dont think he is guilty in all probability) a convicted mass murderer. This makes the decision mind boggling and are arguments for it are exceptionally lame.

Now like many the US has got my back up - they are in no position to say the things they have been but they get brain washed from school until they start watching Fox news so I guess we should expect no less from the most hypocritical country on the planet earth. Why we keep getting into bed with them I have no idea. Freinds yes but at arms length none of this "shoulder to shoulder/special relationship" rubbish.

Anyway whats done is done - Kenny may have had the right motives but this was the wrong way to try and show the world a compassionate Scotland. As for some of the arguments for - like police and hospices - what rubbish is posted. There are massive police resources for large events so looking after him in Scotland was never going to be a problem

Now we will also never find out the truth.......and Alex Salmond has make his first big political mistake - shame its such a whopper.

Atleast Brown and Kerr have looked equally if not more foolish.

I think thats irrelevant as he would be acting the same even if he did. Geffen has had his ear.......

If you have some power and some money and want to influence law in Britain it appears Petes the Minister in charge of the relevent ministry.

New Labour have reached that point a while back where they are more interested in themselves than getting re-elected. Every Government gets to that point.....a good spell in opposition wakes them up a bit.

While Scotland gets more from London that it would if there was no Oil it gets less than it would if it got to keep all the Oil revenues in its boundries.

Also London does better than anywhere else in the UK and its taxed raised were mainly from the banks and finacial sector - you can guarentee the rest of us are propely subsidising the Captial now the bank revenue isnt coming in!!

As a Scot im happy in the Union but want big changes to the whole setup - what im less than happy with is this continual peddaling of these complete myths.

Something I will say is we are wasting the extra money we do get - we have a large public sector that is bloated and inefficient - but for some reason politicians of any party dont want to tackle it.

The fact Scotland spends more on the NHS (doesnt get anywhere near VFM IMO) than England also means we spend less on things like roads. We have the worst roads in the UK officially.

This "Scotland spends more on this...." rubbish us pointless as we spend more on some things and less on others.

The Scottish block grant will reflect the cuts and whoever is in charge in Scotland at the time will have to face the same problems. They will have to save money from somewhere.

UK Plc has been hemmoraging money for far too long and weve wasted the good years thanks to Brown and Blair. In Scotland the Public sector which was too big anyway has grown even bigger - what a waste.
Success of Sky was never a model for Setanta 11:11pm on 09 Jun 2009 I was delighted when Setanta got the SPL rights. Ok mostly games with the Old Firm in them but thats to be expected.

Where it went wrong was this stupid attempt to take on Sky and get EPL matches - for a ridiculous price. Then over pay for further SPL seasons - which will never go ahead now.

It suggests that the business plan was correct and someone go delusions of grandure. To top if off they went mad with the bidding.

Delving into the EPL killed them.They should have stayed with more specialist cheaper sectors which appeared to be working.
'A bit of a week' 7:47pm on 03 May 2009 The thing missing from this Government is the same thing that was missing from the Major one. Infact apart from when it was first elected its been missing from every New Labour government - common sense.

To think as a Scot I was looking forward to having a Scottish PM! The guy is clueless as PM. He may be quite clever but many many clever people are not smart - and thats true of GB.

When the obvious answer is there - he takes a different option - and usually lies about something in the process just to really pee everyone off.

Like every budget he did - it looked great until 10 mins after he had finished and the small print was read. How daft does he/they think people are? They will find out next GE how daft we really are.

On the Parliment thing - I much prefer the Scottish version for the simple reason it does give the smaller parties a say - lets face it they represent voters just like the parties with the most votes. Certainly MSPs although pretty clueless appear to be far more response and answerable to the public.
Tories free of spending commitment 10:41am on 19 Nov 2008 Personally I feel the Tories are keeping their scary underbelly hidden for scaring the voters.

They are not the answer that much is clear but Brown and Darling are even less the answer.

If the GE was tommorrow Cameron would get my vote - but I wish the UK parliment was more PR so every vote really counted and the other parties then had more power when it comes to voting.

Our only choice is Red or Blue. One knows that it will get back in eventually if voted out.

Is this democracy? Doesnt feel like it.

I have travelled widely while following a football team and Europeans dont appear to have the same binge culture as us.

They may drink as much in a week but over a longer perioed rather than all on a Saturday night.

I dont think ive ever seen such zenophobic ill informed rubbish posted in one go for a long time.

So all Scots hate all English and and the fact that Scottish Gas is called that is further proof of Anti-Englishness! And the Poppies - what are you gong on about?

Has it occured to you that if most Scots hated the English we would have just all voted SNP (a minoroty administraition) a long long time ago? Instead of being ruled mainly from London, England.

Most Scots despite what the uber SNP fanatics tell you are happy to stay in the Union but like the English dont want it in its current form. The problem is the people at the top like it just as it is and wont change something that benifits them.

I live and work in the Highlands these days and know lots of English that never get any hasstle - and neither they should. Of the one customer of ours I know that has the reason for it is that he is a horrible person. He has been called a English B*stard but its just because he is the later.

I suggest you look closer to home if you are not liked as much as you claim.
