A balanced approach to climate change 07:30am on 13 Nov 2009 The BBC is not reporting the very high costs of taking action against global warming. Currently this has just been used as an excuse for tax rises. However large reduction in CO2 output means that the organisations making the CO2 will have to either use very different processes or be closed down. Closed down means that the workers get fired. When all the companies and civil service departments are firing people this is likely to result in high unemployment. The government will lose the taxes currently paid by those people and private sector companies.

A government getting less taxes will have to reduce pensions, social security and the number of people it employs. The sort of things that happened in the 1920s and 1930s. Very bad news.
Tensions arise over Zimbabwe crisis 01:35am on 12 Dec 2008 Bad news for those who want a military invasion of Zimbabwe, it is too far from the sea - the aircraft carrier borne Harriers cannot reach it. Nor do the neighbouring countries do not want to house the British and/or American military bases such an invasion would need.
Nannyish or neglectful 9:19pm on 09 Dec 2008 I noticed an interesting thing about the lists tarquin wrote. The items/services the rich purchased for themselves and their children tended to work when the state supplied them to the working class. The things the rich did not want turned out to be exploitations of the working class.
