Sugar and Hornby: why they're hired 8:29pm on 07 Jun 2009 Listening to Sugar on the Andrew Marr show he did not seem to have a clue about the job other than it is the same as he has been doing. When asked if this was window dressing by the great leader he said 'I hope not'!

Slippery Mandy was also on and got in a tizzy finally needing correction by Marr.

Victor Blank may be proved right (eventually) 11:00am on 18 May 2009 Just more spin about spin about spin, and that is where this all started - the HBOS takeover that is. GB spun the deal to a gullible Blank who nearly wrecked a solid Lloyds to get what - a SUPER bank that will be bad for most except the top bankers themselves.

Blank to quit Lloyds 3:57pm on 17 May 2009 I heard Blank being questioned by Jeff Randall about the HBOS takeover and the guy hadn't a clue. It seemed that Brown had persuaded him against his better judgement to do the HBOS deal. That at any rate was the impression I had.

This sort of thing must not happen.

What about the huge personal and business debt?

Until all this fake money and systems are of the system no one can plan or forecast anything.

It must be worse for the Chinese who probably have twice as much manufacturing capacity as the world needs in the future.

China: All about jobs 1:36pm on 04 Mar 2009 The bad situation is Guandong province is much worse than elsewhere in China, bad though that may be.

The reason is that there were more factories making the cheapie s..t which suddenly stopped selling.

At least its warmer down south in China so I guess that's why Robert went to regurgitate what is well documented.

Thing is though that China has the CASH to sort out problems. Contrast that with a well known island race off the French coast......

Interesting that Brown's visit to the USA is ignored out here but much coverage of HSBC and also USA/China relations.

Even the cricket probs in Pakistan gets more coverage even on CNN.

Anyway at least RP can get a cheap watch or t-shirt in Shenzhen.

You should comment perhaps on the lack of people in the airport at Shanghai and on driving out of town the lack of usual traffic and especially the containers which are visibly fewer.

Difference is that the Chinese government has money to deal with their problems.

This is the BIG difference between China and the rest and boy do they know it! Not that they brag since this is not the way but watch it happening in real life - things like mining in Australia for example. Also the big money that they are spending at home and again they have the cash to do it.

Oh and as has been commented Chinese love to gamble and stocks are just another form of this. Don't get too hung up unless you regularly visit the place and have a minimum of a clue. Even then the culture is so different that you never really fully understand everything.

Rock revival 10:47am on 23 Feb 2009 Of interest ('scuse pun' is what the strategy will be with savings. They are in the hard rock department because by definition what Brown has said recently about old style banking is balancing savings against loans.

We shall see.......................

Here in East London a new (well 5 years old) estate is lucky to get 1M.

We had to PAY, get that, to have Virgin install cabling to the estate and provide their grotty service complete with the auto complaint department.

Strange thing is its amazing what you can do with 1M unless you want to download big files so I guess that is what BT et al think also.

Well I assume the government made the right contractual arrangements with OUR money.

If the banks can get repayment on demand then so should we.

Of course this would sort out the bonus thing.
