Taekwondo needs to move with the times 12:09pm on 24 Aug 2008 I fully agree that some automated, but accurate, scoring system is required. I'm afraid that I have problems with all 'sports' that rely on the judgement of human beings. We have seen far too many injustices in these games (and not just to GB). Until those are sorted out, I will continue to only get excited bu sports where the winner is clearly and unambiguously faster, higher, stronger, etc.
Let the great G.O.A.T debate commence! 12:36pm on 17 Aug 2008 Given that sportsman has (at least) two meaning, there is no way I can accept even a suggestion that Maradonna - who fails spectacularly on the second definition - could be the greatest sportsman of all time. Personally, he isn't evem the greatest footballer.

Andy had a bad day at the office. A very bad day - and he opponent played above himself. It happens in tennis, as in all sports. But to suggest that Andy was not trying, or not up to it, is, frankly, insulting. He certainly did not have to go to Beijing - he could have 'done a Roddick' and stayed in the states, earned some cheap ranking points and even some prize money. Instead he flew half way around the world, arriving only on Thursday due to flight problems, because he desperately wanted to play for his country - GB.
Honest politician 11:04am on 06 Jun 2008 Robin Cook resigning over Iraq is the most obvious 'honesty' moment to me. He was a central part of an administartion that seemed to have made it clear that it had no real views at all, other than doing whatever was necessary to get elected again. So to find one of them obviously believeing in something strongly enough to give up such a role, was a huge shock.
