Changes to our blogs 4:12pm on 20 Mar 2009 So to get Â£ you type the 'A' with circumflex(ahem - hat) then the pound sign? Sweet!
Nothing should be taken for granted 3:39pm on 20 Mar 2009 I don't see why I am forced to always be 6 months in credit with my Licence payments just because choose to pay my TV licence by monthly direct debit?

We should demand an interest payment on this money that they are keeping!

However, I know that with some cutbacks (things like Sat. TV, mobile phone contracts etc.) and as long as I can find work somewhere - even earning half of my current salary - the family will be better off.

This is largely due to the fact that I'll be paying off a large chunk of expensive debt with my redundancy money.

Despite unknown path ahead, I am actually quite looking forward to it.

I am pretty sure Halo 3 and COD4 automatically selects the best host? Hence the reason the games very rarely lag?
Is quantitative easing really just printing money? 2:06pm on 18 Feb 2009 Will all this printed money end up in the hand of banks?

Will banks be encouraged to start lending enthusiasticly again?

How long is the cycle of easing supposed to take before the banks pay back this cash, will this leave banks in the doo doo again?

Is this really just a goverment's way of handing out huge loans with no repayment plan and no real security?

Wouldn't it be a little more secure to just bite the biscuit and nationalise the banks, offer UK citizens good products, give them a good service, do away with bank charges, pay no bonus greather than 10% to any member of staff or the board, and eventually make continued, sutainable and ethical profit from sound and safe business practices. Profits that can then be invested and spent on our childrens future?

Has Goldilocks gone for good? 4:34pm on 17 Feb 2009 Deflation is scary but it almost seems necessary to get us back to a state of balance in our personal incomes and expenditures?

The way inflation has been calculated in recent years was a way of hiding the true increases in the cost of living as wage increases never matched true inflation or the increases in council tax for example.

Now the government does not know where it has been nor where it is going. It’s like a zombified chicken, not a headless chicken - they have the decency to fall over after a short while
Unfair? We may have to hope so 10:16am on 10 Feb 2009 I do not see how inflation will help us to lower our debts if our wage rises are not in line with inflation?

In my workplace for the past ten years our net wage rises are at least 20% behind inflation, by that I mean that if inflation was at 4% we were getting wage rises of 1-3% year on year. (no rise at all this year)

This has been a major factor in why the country is in so much debt. Once you start to borrow and prices go up, wages are effectively lowered year on year and you have less and less money to live on. It then becomes a struggle to pay back the debts.

If the government would change the rules on credit card rates or maybe offer us a government credit card with sensible rates that encouraged paying off of debts, then we might all be better off.

I would rather pay my money to the state and feel like the profits would be used to help the country.
Docking bankers' pay 09:39am on 09 Feb 2009 Thankfully the general sentiment has now been listened to by the politicians.

It is a shame that it seems to take the threat of civil unrest to get the government to do anything that the average person agrees with.
