Common sense will prevail, or has all of the collective intelligence left the country?

The professor is not likely to be influenced by a "political agenda" and is more likely to give well-founded, impartial advice.

This issue is now being aired and (hopefully) constructively discussed.

My opinion is that the NuLab gravitates too easily to the centralised "big brother" model. As if they have to be nannying control-freaks to justify their existance.

The UK has less community feeling and more problems as a result.

Thank you Mr. Hurd, you are standing up for the correct values.

I pay taxes to a government which supports and encourages a child-friendly society that is less obsessed with surveillance, disproportionate fears, big-brother registers and general nanny-ism than the UK.

2010 will bring a breath of fresh air with a new government (please don't re-elect the NuLab desperados).

A referendum is another, and may be held within its own framework and protocol.

What any party or government does with the results of any referendum has yet to be specified.

Any "no" vote in such a referndum would be a wonderful bargaining tool in future EU negotiations.

They are scheming, spinning and unprincipled. Yuck.

Brown does not, and is struggling as PM.

Obama will, of course, remain polite, but I feel that Brown may have some food for thought after this episode.
