Benitez under spotlight after Champions League exit 3:51pm on 25 Nov 2009 As a pool fan of 33 years, I don't think I can be accused of being fickle. Unfortunately Benitez's reign has seen me go from an ardent supporter to a disillusioned one. Yes we won the CL in 2005 and have seen some fine performances...but not enough for the amount invested. What really grates is the frankly ridiculous substitutions at times, demonstrated again last night, and his complete inability to see the black hole in the middle of the park that he needs to address. He also seems to have an ability to upset players that only Roy Keane could be proud of. Frankly, I'm bored of Liverpool under Benitez and the sooner he does the decent thing and leaves the better. At least I might be able to enjoy watching my team again

Very true Robbo. The only question is why we, as posters, get moderated for making such statements. Is it just me or does the beeb smack of the big brother approach these days? Do as we say and not as we do!

Can French claim innocence in tapping-up row? 10:05pm on 10 Sep 2009 It's completely ridiculous to use players such as Patrick Viera and Evra as examples of africans supposedly 'trawled' for by the French footballing powers. Both these examples moved to France as young children with their families, and as far as I'm aware not for anything remotely connected to footballing reasons.

All these people that moan about such things are quite happy for Laura Robson, Greg Rusedski, Andrew Caddick, Kevin Pieterson et al to represent blighty at their respective sports...particularly when they look like winning. How far do you take the arguement? You could include Andy Murray, when all the bigots suddenly forget Scotland is a different country...once a 'dour Scot' way down the rankings, as World no. 2 he suddenly becomes a 'British' player.

Also Defoe, Heskey, Carlton/Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand etc etc are obviously foreign and must have been tapped up by someone cos they're all black. YES, YES, that last statement was complete and utter horsedung, and just meant as an example of other similar posts on this blog!

Stuttering start for Benitez 8:11pm on 21 Aug 2009 Are some of you lot serious with your comments? The ‘in depth analysis’ of Liverpool is comedic from some people eg.

- "Liverpool are the most physical team in the premiership"
- "Now Alonso is gone and Gerard is becoming a shadow of his former self"
- Benitez “is fat (sic) becoming a laughing stock”

My personal favourite though has to be the supposed extraordinary powers of mind control Alonso is clearly able to exercise over the referee...

Your arguement falls flat for 2 reasons

1. Much of the squad he won the CL with was the side he inherited

2. Despite the figures you're presented with and have commented upon you have still failed to grasp that Benitez HAS spent 20-30M on individual proven players: Torres, 26.5M (one proven player); Keane, 20M (one proven player); Masch, 17M (one proven player).

As has been pointed out Benitez has bought a lot of players that just have not worked. Just check Poltergeist23's list out and see how many signings have actaully added anything to the side. Leto, Pauletta, Kromkamp, Zenden, Gonzalez, Voronin to name just a few that have failed to impress, while Benitez insists on sticking with our brazilian 'wonderkid' Leiva who seems intent on throwing away any advantage gained in any game he plays in. I would rather have Anderson in the side!

Benitez will forever be an enigma until he wins the Premiership

Yet it's ok for the BBC to broadcast the word "arse" early morning on Andrew Marr's show.

I've now amended my article to read "should just arse off" as this seems more acceptable.

I think that's what you call double standards - hypocrites.
