Owen lifts Man Utd's Euro hopes 1:23pm on 10 Dec 2009 I can't understand why people bring up career statistics like #85, they are absolutely meaningless, sustained and current form should be the only criteria.

If Owen can turn one good performance into a series of good perforfances then he should be considered but his form is miles behind Defoe's and he has been very average for many, many years.

As for Beckham he shouldn't have gone to the last world cup let alone this one. He has one half decent game to four terrible ones.

At his best Owen was one of the finest strikers in the world, that unfortunately was a decade ago. Owen is a shadow of his former self and one game won't change that. If he continues to play well and finds the consistency that has been lacking for a very long time then he should be mentioned for the world cup but that's a big if.

Owen has a lot to prove and fortunately Capello won't be easily swayed, it seems at last our team with the exception of Heskey is chosen on form and not on reputation

He has shown that he is gutless and inept as soon as the pressure is on. He had a great start because of the advantage the car had but now that's gone he's been embarrassing to watch.

The problem here is if she is trans gender, what ever that means, then it has to be unfair on the other female athletes. Men and women participate in different classes because they are different. Unless everyone, regardless of sex race against each other this gives unfair advantage to her, even though she is not to blame. Other female athletes, despite their hours of training can't compete with her, so with sadness I would not allow to compete.

Manchester City making waves 1:05pm on 26 Aug 2009 I would totally agree about Lescott being vastly overpriced. I have watched him many times and he's a good player but he's certainly not a great player and I personally don't believe he has the capacitty to become one.

I was listening to Sparky at dinnertime saying he thought that he acted perfectly OK in the acquisition of Lescott but I wonder if he would feel the same if he wasn't manager of Man City. I'm pretty sure before the end of the season he will know what it's like not to be.

Hughes showed last season that he's miles out of his depth at a club like City, watching their first two games against poor opposition they will have to improve by a lot to ever challenge for a top four place.

This time next year The Chosen One will have his job.
Benitez and O'Neill on the offensive 10:49am on 25 Aug 2009 I'm sure that Liverpool will improve, the problem is by the time they do Chelsea will be gone. Maybe Man Utd could catch them but Liverpool will be too far behind and Arsenal are nowhere near good enough.

This season you've got Manchester City as well as a rejuvenated Spurs so it is not impossible to see a change in the top four this season. Of course it's early days but Liverpool don't only look like they are short of confidence, they also look short of class.
Robbo's Premier League predictions 3:30pm on 13 Aug 2009 Chelsea for me this season, Utd second and then Liverpool, After that maybe Everton or Spurs or maybe Arsenal will scrape fourth again but no higher because they are so far behind the top three and with a manager that has lost the plot just like Brian Clough did in the end.

I don't think Man City will get fourth because they won't sack the hapless Hughes until that chance has gone. Villa had their chance last year but ended up embarassing themselves at the end of the season with their lack of guts. Not even the excelent MON can get the mediocre Villa squad up around the top four.

Hull finished the season awfully and look primed to go down, along with Burnley and one other from about five teams.

How England can win the Ashes 3:43pm on 10 Aug 2009 Owais Shah failed in the Caribbean when Bopara was scoring runs so that hardly makes him an inspired alternative. Bopara has been hopeless, Bell has been worst and Collingwood not much better.

As for the mugs who claim Broad has proven himself, all Broad has proved is what anyone with any sense already knew, when the pressure is off he manages to lift himself up into the mediocre category and when the pressure is on he's utterly useless. Bowling and batting when your team has absolutely no chance of saving a match is not pressure because if you fail no one will care.

If you bring a player in to play at the Oval it proves very little, If Key or Ramps scored a hundred on that batsmans paradise do you think it means he would of done the same at Headingly?
