Labour lagging in by-election race 1:48pm on 05 Jul 2008 Brian, you have to be joking surely!

Margaret Curran as MP, MSP, and Party Leader in Scotland? After the mock-indignation and hysterical personal attacks on Alex Salmond for precisely the same thing?

In addition, she is not even up to the job she presently has, never mind another two!

I have heard of making a little go a long way but this is ridiculous!
Answering the critics 9:49pm on 06 Jun 2008 I listened to the EIS General Secretary interviewed on Radio Scotland tonight and I thought he was very disingenuous.

Example: he complained about newly qualified teachers being unable to find jobs. I have to ask what's new?

I qualified in 1977 and it took 3 years before I was offered a job. Even then it was on numerous temporary contracts and it took a further 2 years before I was permanently employed.

When the impression is deliberately given that the current situation is unique when it is patently NOT, it makes one wonder what exactly is the EIS agenda?

I'm glad you're happy about high oil prices but I don't belive you have thought it through - consider the following:

I own a small business providing a highly specialised Health Care service to elderly people in their own homes - anywhere between Gretna to Buckie.

A tank of petrol (35 litres in my case) has risen from under £30 not that long ago to £41 today £1.17 at BP) - that's over a third dearer.

What am I supposed to do to recoup this?
My only option is to increase my charges to these elderly people.

Perhaps an elderly relative of yours will use the services of myself or one of my collegues over the next few weeks/months/years.

If so, I hope you are equally happy that he or she will have to pay substantially more to offset these ourtrageous fuel costs, while you sit with what I imagine is a smug self-satisfied expression on your face.
