Relief all round as Silverstone secures British GP 1:32pm on 08 Dec 2009 @zebra

Really though? Damon Hill was spouting vitriol towards Donington ever since it was announced a the host of the GP. He was relentless in every interview and sounded like a child who'd just thrown his toys out of the pram.

Then when things started to turn in Silverstones favour he changed his tune to a "Oh they tried, I was rooting for them I really was!" in a bid to coax Bernie Ecclestone into his arms again.

For the record I don't think Donington was really that ready for the BritishGP, the roads around it are utterly atrocious for one. Now it's just a half finished shell of a track that has lost the MotoGP AND the prospect to host the F1

Simon Gillett has run it into the ground
Time to play England's 2018 trump card 1:21pm on 26 Nov 2009 Nottingham won't get it and that's a fact.

There's political distrust between Nottingham City Council (Labour) and Nottinghamshire County Council (Conservative) - crucially the proposed new stadium for 'Forest would be on green belt land - which the tories don't agree with.

Leicester or Derby would be more likely.

Farewell to a brilliant season - and roll on 2010 5:46pm on 01 Nov 2009 Excellent blog as always Jake, a small snapshot of memories that dominated such a great season of Formula One.

I think the BBC coverage has made it all the more memorable and perhaps I'd like to put forward another alternative award to the mix

Most Awkward Moment Of the Season award

No runners up, the winner goes to Jake Humphrey doing his best to interview a very awkward and closed Bernie Ecclestone at the Singapore GP, it probably goes down as the most difficult thing I've ever had to watch!

Bernie was unrelentingly arrogant and probably the least interview worthy person on that day but Jake did his best to steer things along, I'm sure he deserves another award for most patient interviewer of the season too!

No, Ubuntu is a free piece of software that is actively encouraged to be shared and does not fall under copyright law. That's the whole ethos of Linux and open source software.
24 hours with Ubuntu 9:46pm on 24 Oct 2009 I've had a fair bit of experience with Linux distros but my love for *nix just isn't as strong any more.

Years ago, when I was younger and had more time on my hands (with a keen interest in computing) I used to play with Linux quite a lot, I spent two years running Gentoo Linux, a very hardcore distribution that required you to literally compile your own operating system and software before you could use it.

After getting to University and becoming less and less inclined to bother with the tinkering aspects required to run Linux I gave up interest. Although I have dabbled with things like Ubuntu since.

However Ubuntu is far from perfect and is a long way off being the ultimate contender for Windows, in my experience anyway. If you're the average computer user and just require things like word processing and web browsing then it's probably fine but anything more then that and it's incredibly labour intensive to get things working.

Windows isn't a shining butterfly either but it's ultimately very simple to use, something which has made its dominance so prominent.
A week with Windows 2:51pm on 24 Oct 2009 Mac fans are forgetting that unfortunately OSX comes with a premium price tag at the expense of a Mac computer to run it on.

With a normal PC I can have a hardware specification that can rival the Mac Pro for a shy under £600.

I'm just wondering what the markup Apple really makes off every computer they sell.
A big match for Broadband Britain 09:40am on 08 Oct 2009 People who say "I don't want to be sitting around my computer/laptop!" might not realise that most laptops have a VGA/DVI/HDMI-out port and many desktops do too, so you can connect them up to your massive TV and watch content as you normally would enjoy.
Your questions answered - week 12 4:07pm on 04 Oct 2009 Wow, have only just found this on the F1 site, didn't even realise Murray walker was doing this sort of thing. Excellent insights into the mind of a man that clearly understands the sport he loves.

My question to Murray would be,

Was it the right decision to put a 19 year old into the Torro Rosso Formula One car, considering the events of today's race?

Ironically Jaime Alguersuari's crash did make those last 4 laps incredibly tense and exciting, I was on the edge of my seat with the fight between Barrichello, Button and Kubica.
Strauss's England worthy winners 8:37pm on 23 Aug 2009 The run-out was a marvellous piece of television and sport, it was so quick and the the piercing crack of the stumps as the bails fell was glorious
