And that sir, is a straight, unblemished, calculated and blatant lie.

Many Nations "parliaments" may have ratified it, but in the case of France and Denmark for example, this was clearly against the wishes of their own people. The Irish, may I remind you, voted no, in an unheard of and unprecedented twist in the rules, they were made to vote again. At the last Irish vote, you remember Nick, the "NO" one, the Lisbon treaty should have been dead, and you jolly well know it. So, attack the tories if you must (I am no tory)but at least base your attack on the truth.

If I were a tory I would be offended. truth is Nick, I am an undecided voter. You choose to attack the Tories, yet my great fear is just exactly what terrors a Europena superstate is going to bring to these shores. You would be seen as more of a political commentator and less of a labour voice if you addressed what matters instead of just alternating between tory bashing and labour worship.

Now, what of the EU Nick, do you actually approve of this unconstitutional adventure, this very treaty which has been given birth by totally ignoring democracy, do you think its a GOOD thing Nick?

Because its potential power really worries me Nick, it worries me deeply, it also worries me that people such as yourself don't see the dangers.

But all I can say. reading through the whole seedy saga is that I have an overwhelming feeling of disgust at the behaviour of those in power. Great Britain really is now firmly in the gutter of international diplomacy. All I can see, from any coverage, at any angle, is self seeking politicians, nary a one of them has shown any care at all for their country. Brown is wriggling like a cut snake, Straw is baring all, but only in order to save himself. Balls is hysterically transparent in his "Support" for the boss (Whilst being brilliantly and totally off message!) Salmond displays no interest in Soctland whatsoever, just furthering his own aims.

What a sad, sorry, despicable bunch they all are. I am ashamed to be British
Waking up to Ashes lag 4:31pm on 13 Jul 2009 It is inescapably true. England used gamesmanship to secure the draw. Thank goodness! At last the tactics used by the opposition are turned back on them, Heavens cobbers, don't you know the english are at their very very best when their backs are to the wall? Don't you remember your press using gamesmanship for the entire time our rugby team was in your country for that y'know, world cup thingie? Short memories, don't you remember getting them so mad they just had to go out and whup you? Even though your old refereeing south african cobber tried to make it otherwise? What short memories you have! Sportsmanship gentlemen, comes from England. The book of Gamesmanship is of course, an undeniably southern hemisphere publication, with an australian author and a south african publisher. It was YOU in the southern hemisphere who decided that winning was the be all and end all of sport chaps, so don't complain when your own weapons are turned against you.

What I find mildly irritating is that this man clearly thinks that we of the rank and file are too stupid to see through him.

Still, he will be out of office soon!
Lions ratings: third Test 5:34pm on 04 Jul 2009 As great a Lions side as I can remember. It is not the "Done thing£ in Rugby to complain about the refereeing, but I feel that had the first test been "Fair" The Lions would have been coming home triumphant. SA may have won 2 - 1, but I think the way they did it showed that they feared the Lions, were prepared to do anyuthing to win and have severely damaged their reputation on the world rugby stage by their actions and comments.

Quite frankly, when our four home rugby nations come together and produce a squad like this, I am immnesely proud of all of them

George Osborne and Mandoilson have a big spat, Now amazingly, a labour constituent in Osbornes patch suddenly finds life intolerable without complaining about George Osbornes expenses. Now Nick, lets have some honesty, here is the question:

Do you think Lord Mandoilson has anything to do with this sudden complaint?

Oh, and if you don't, you must be the most naiave political commentator in history!

Can we afford the carriers? 11:43am on 30 Jun 2009 No, no, no. Mr Peston, your interminable Labour roots are showing yet again. Let me help you out. These carriers were promised to the RN by labour in 1997, I know, Mr Peston, because, unlike you, I was THERE. We cynical chaps in the military said at the time that we would be lucky if we ever saw the Labour government deliver, and that whatever happened we certainly would not see them whilst the man from Fettes was in the chair. We were correct. Some 11 years later the issuing of the contracts were met with much cynicism by us, the military. Please note that if the carriers had been built when mooted, the costs would have been considerably less than the current figure. You should know Mr Peston, as a political correspondent, that whenever labour get into power (Check your history) they always put 2 or 3 big warships on to the books. As a rule they never actually build them, it just gives them money to play with in budgetary figures. They have never committed to a large warship build and achieved it during their term in office, so unless you are very, very naive, it is very easy to expose this as a very old labour trick, used every time they get into power. The cost increases that you mention are due to government delays and it should be further noted that the delays you attribute to the MOD are actually because the government has not given the MOD enough money to execute the plan, so all they CAN do is delay.

The very FIRST duty of government Mr Peston, is defence of the realm, for if you don't defend the realm, then you end up not having a realm and therefore, nothing to govern. The current truth is that through policies so spectacularly disastrous as to beggar belief, this labour government has bankrupted the country, welfare payments alone now outstrip the tax take. This country, due to disastrous policies, is now more exposed than at any time in its history. We have upset more people globally than ever before and are less disposed to defend ourselves against enemies, which again, due to disastrous policies grow in number daily. If there is ONE area where we should be spending money Mr Peston, it is on Defence.
