Addicted to methadone? 5:25pm on 08 Oct 2009 Note that when "Mark" says he was off heroin while he was on methadone, he's almost certainly lying. Methadone is used in addition to heroin, not instead of it. Might as well give them heroin and be done with it.
'Labour's lost it,' says the Sun 01:48am on 30 Sep 2009 Well, that's that then. All that remains is the rush to the lifeboats. Mandelson has already nabbed one, but I'm sure plenty more incumbent Labour MPs will suddenly have a road-to-Damascus moment and realise that they've been Tories / Whigs / SNP / Plaid Cymru under the skin for years, and that their conscience now demands that they switch parties.

All the most shrewd political animals will just pin a different rosette on their expense-claim suits, and nothing will change under a nominally Tory regime. Just the way the establishment likes it, in other words.

The drugs questions 09:30am on 24 Jul 2009 Let's be honest here, the two reasons for continuing the prohibition policy are:

1) Curtain twitching grannies and get-off-my-lawn codgers, who are wheeled out en masse from their nursing homes to be shocked and scared into voting against anything new every 4 years.

2) The plain fact that prohibition can be enforced by the sort of people who couldn't hold down a job mopping the floor in a greasy spoon, while treatment has to be applied by people possessed of a modicum of intelligence and compassion. It's just an efficient use of human resources.

You know fine well that cutting overseas aid means "Stop propping up friendly despots and keeping handout nations dependent on us", and that cutting benefits means "Stop giving money to career scroungers and benefits tourists". However, since the hug-a-rainbow liberals who carried out this alleged poll are too spineless to actually give those as options, you get to make your snide "Oh, look how short sighted and cruel the base, common and popular can be - this is why you need to have decisions made for you by you betters" comments.

The return of politics' 'N' word 08:31am on 17 Jun 2009 Which of the current political leaders - Cameron, Clegg or Mandelson - would actually have the bottle to order the launch of a nuclear missile? What possible scale of attack on us would provoke them to respond?

Cameron and Clegg simply don't have the spine, and dither and dissemble and spin while we lost city after city. Mandelson would let every inch of the UK be turned to radioactive slag as long as his home town, Brussels, wasn't touched.

We don't need a tougher deterrent, we need tougher leaders.
