Just because a keeper touches the ball does it mean that if he takes a player out after that, that it's not a foul?

No.

Therefore, penalty.

My personal favourite was August 2007 when West Brom were playing in Cardiff - and John Hartson was warming up (this was when we thought BFJ was going to be a good signing for us!):

Albion Fans (to the tune of The Automatic song):

What's that coming over the hill?
Is it John Hartson??
IS IT JOHN HARTSON???

To which the Cardiff fans immediately replied with:

What's that looking over the hill?
Is it John Hartson?
Is it John Hartson??

I was in the away end but thought that was brilliant!

Incidentally, I live in Cardiff so watch majority of matches with the Cardiff fans.

Not long after the above game, Cardiff were beating the Dingles (W*lves) when the away fans decided to aid Cardiff's ground improvements by making it an "all seater pitch" (if you get my meaning).

No sooner had it started the quick-thinking Cardiff fans in unison began with:

"Sit down, and behave yourselves"
to the tune of "you're s**t and you know you are"

Priceless.
Should there be a winter break? 10:15am on 09 Jan 2009 It's probably been mentioned above - truth is a can't be ar**d to read through them all - but my question would be:

WHEN would you have the mid-season break?

January is always mentioned, but in recent years the REAL cold snap has come between March and Easter.

What would happen then?

You've missed 3 or 4 games through an enforced break that then have to be crammed in elsewhere (or the season is extended - incidentally I like that suggestion!), and then it gets properly cold and more games are postponed - resulting in even more of a fixture pile-up afterwards.

This isn't to mention the 2 FA Cup rounds that are scheduled for January - surely a break for lower league teams would hinder them in the case that they get to the 3rd and 4th rounds?

The solution?

No mid-season breaks.

You take what you're given.

Don't you footballers spout the cliche "it'll all even itself out"?

And, the fans can always go to another game (on a 3 and a half hour trip I'm SURE they'd have passed games that were on!).
