What Mercedes buy-out of Brawn could mean 12:23pm on 18 Nov 2009 Well it's happened...but I can't believe people are still trashing Jenson. For crying out loud, he's the reigning world champion and Rubens is no mug! What the hell does he have to do to convince you people he's a quality driver in his own right?

As for the Lewis haters..."Hamilton can't mix with anyone" zzzzzzz! It was Alonso that had the chip on his shoulder in '07! Alonso gets booted, no further problem at McLaren. Simples.

Of course the arrogant Spaniard seems to be teflon coated. That's Ferrari's problem now.
What Mercedes buy-out of Brawn could mean 2:43pm on 17 Nov 2009 First impressions:

1. Having both my guys on the same team would be awesome though I am bummed that Brawn weren't willing to give Jenson the payrise he quite frankly deserved as a world champion though.

2. As I have said before though I believe Hamilton would beat Button in the same car so Jenson would likely be the latest British WDC to fail to defend his title.

3. The biggest unanswered question at this point has to be Raikonen. Prior to the Button talks I'd have though he was the safe bet for the second McLaren seat.
Your classic F1 season finale 10:57pm on 30 Oct 2009 USA 1980: Certainly a few curiosities here - for one Hunt's snarkiness over drivers warming up their tyres - something that everyone takes for granted nowadays.

Secondly, the pre-race championship table had Piquet eight points behind Jones yet Jones had already been crowned world champion. What the hell?

Thirdly, Murray was talking about possible political trouble coming into 1981 - I thought the worst of the trouble from that era had passed by mid-1980.

Overall: A brilliant service that has become a ritual on Grand Prix weekends. Nice one!
Pick your classic F1 season finale 9:15pm on 23 Oct 2009 All from the 80s, interesting. Out of that bunch, I'll go for Portugal '84. From a historical perspective Lauda vs Prost has always sounded tasty.

Then again the British Legion trying to get him to 'not' wear a poppy was more trouble that it's worth as well!
My Brazilian Grand Prix moments 6:22pm on 20 Oct 2009 CWT: You have a point, as I've said before, if you put Lewis and Jenson in equal cars then Lewis would probably win. The fact is though that Lewis never was in a position to defend his title and while Jenson has his iffy moments this season, no one could really take advantage of them.

He is 'not' the first guy to win the F1 title in that fashion. This was his first serious attempt at a title and he pulled it off after a career of being in "dogs" and it's also the first time the World championship has been won by Brits in consecutive Brits in my lifetime!

Maybe it'll be a one off, who knows, who cares? Still awesome!
Your classic Brazilian Grand Prix 11:38pm on 19 Oct 2009 '82: Interesting rumble particularly as the only thing I knew about Piquet's 1982 season was that he was the defending champion and he had an absolute mare! Didn't know he'd won a race - and then one of the earlier posters said he was later disqualified! What for?

Anyway - was not at all surprised to see the '82 title sequence had been done by Ceefax!
Pick your classic Brazilian Grand Prix 12:24pm on 07 Oct 2009 '08. Yes it's ITV era, yes it's recent - who cares? The drama of that race is just unbeatable!
Your classic Japanese Grand Prix 3:45pm on 04 Oct 2009 I'm certainly not going to forget Alonso's move in '05 anytime soon, I liked the pre-McLaren Alonso because he gave Schumacher a reality check. Pity he just turned into another Schumacher.
Your classic Japanese Grand Prix 10:14pm on 02 Oct 2009 Japan '94: Talk about the definition of a classic. Must have taped this on VHS first time around and watched it later that morning because I certainly do remember the half hour between the two parts of the race.

Looking back, the whole "aggregate time" thing was completely insane but damn if it didn't make for an exciting race with Damon beating Schumacher in the classiest way possible.

Mansell vs Alesi is also unforgettable. Bear in mind that at 12 I stil saw Mansell as a grade above Hill given that he had won the world championship previously(heck even now I reckon Mansell was probably the better driver overall) so I was wondering why the hell Mansell couldn't get past Alesi.

Also, completely forgot that DC had anything to do with the BBC's coverage of this race.
