Gordon and the badgers 00:09am on 11 Jun 2009 I agree with the previous comment - the badgers are wonderful to watch. I especially also enjoyed the urban badger footage - when a fox (one of my favourite wild animals) appeared, too. Well done again, Gordon!
The painted lady butterfly phenomenon 11:40pm on 03 Jun 2009 It's not "the" Painted Lady phenomenom nor is it a once in a lifetime chance. The last time we saw this was during from late-Spring right up until Autumn, in 1996.
And not only Painted Lady butterflies! That year (1996) there were many sightings of Clouded Yellow and even Camberwell Beauty, not to mention the huge numbers of Silver Y moths in August!
Nature surprises us again 01:49am on 29 May 2008 We love to watch the Springwatch web cams too, when get the chance to do so.
This instantly reminds me that we are watching closely a family of foxes in a city not too far away from our main base - as far as we can see, there's a Vixen, dog-fox and two gorgeous cubs - now about 2 thirds grown. We think this is the whole family and that the cubs were born pretty closeby to where can be seen (and heard!).
The exact location is being kept a secret at the moment, but are trying to get some pictures and perhaps video footage too; for anyone wanting to know more please get in touch with the Foxwatch section within Hogarth's Wildlife/Hedgehog Rescue. (Quick links when using a search, online).
