Experiments with location-based content: BBC Open Air 8:14pm on 26 Aug 2009 Any plans to extend this to BBC Local? By the end of this year all 50+ local sites across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and even Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man will be in the new system complete with rss feeds for every index - including Nature.

I guess that depends on whether you like classical music and live performances of classical music or not - you do need a higher bit rate to get the extreme peaks and troughs of a more challenging piece that you don't really need for a distorted guitar and drums.

As far as I'm aware there will be two mp3 stream versions 128k and 64k for slower connections.

You should see flash streaming of BBC Local Radio, the end of Real and the introduction of Windows Media streams by August this year.

James - any chance we can have deep linking of Radio on the iPlayer - it's there for TV shows or is there a music rights issue?
Open Post 2009-24-04 5:11pm on 24 Apr 2009 @lewiscolin - if you get the Skyfire browser for Windows Mobile it allows you to view pretty much any site that uses flash without any real problems - including the iPlayer.

I've watched live streaming television/radio and on demand stuff through it and it works great - although if you're phone is older or doesn't have a particularly good processor it may jump and jog a little - that's the phone not the iPlayer.
How do you illustrate the absence of God? 3:06pm on 12 Mar 2009 I was hunting for a god without god image a couple of years ago and ended up going down the beach and writing the word God with a ? in the sand and taking a photo of that.

Unfortunately the question mark didn't show up very well and it ended up looking overly religious still.

Oh well :)
BBC Moderation, The Law and "Censorship" Part 1: Defamation 2:53pm on 04 Mar 2009 We could really do with making a version of the online legal course all BBC employees have to do available to the public - I'm not saying everyone will use it but it could be useful to some.
Interesting Stuff 2009-02-19 4:20pm on 20 Feb 2009 PicksyJ - that BBC Local Twitter stream will be drawn from the RSS feeds I imagine - the rss feed is generated from the BBC Tyne and the BBC Wear news index.

If a story covers both patches it will appear on both the Tyne and Wear index - this means that it will also appear in both RSS feeds and as the BBC Newcastle Twitter stream is pulling in both RSS feeds - the story will appear twice on Twitter - once from the Tyne rss feed and once from the Wear rss feed.

Also - although Twitter is useful and popular I'm not sure the extra resource in adding a 120 character summary to every article published on BBC News just for Twitter is worth it - although I imagine the RSS feed and twitter importer 'could' be adapted to pull out the existing summary (as used on indexes) than the first paragraph.

Although this will come out at around 60 characters instead of 120.
