Open Post 2009-04-03 11:50am on 03 Apr 2009 Nick, I have previously complained to PM about the confusion of blogs and forums. In a forum, people can directly reply to a specific post, so a structured debate/discussion can be held. In the comments section of a blog, there is no way to reference other posts. What do you think about this?

Overpayment accepted 4:24pm on 28 Oct 2008 Many councils now operate cashless parking. While some of these systems are, let's say, far from perfect, I don't see why we should have to carry cash for all these small transactions. (How long before Londoners can pay for parking with Oyster?) I always pay the M6 Toll charge with my debit card - I don't see why we can't do the same for parking charges.
The role of the BBC's News blogs 3:32pm on 27 Oct 2008 I think the blogs are, too often, used as forums. There is another category of web application specifically designed for that purpose: the forum!

I have emailed PM about this but have had no response. Too many PM blog posts are just requests for comments, instead of genuine articles upon which people can choose to comment, i.e. a blog! "The Beach" and "The Furrowed Brow", etc., are perfect examples of this. Blogs really shouldn't be used as headings for pages of comments.
From the Paralympic Desk of Sport... 3:51pm on 09 Sep 2008 With regards to the "bird's nest"/"birds' nest" argument, Private Eye has a section of its letters page that used to be called "Notes and Queries". It's full of pedantic points relating to articles in the previous issue, and was recently renamed "Pedant's Corner". However, a pedant wrote in to complain about this, pointing out that, since the "corner" contained letters from multiple pedants, it should in face be called "Pedants' Corner" (note the position of the apostrophe). Another pedant then suggested that there should be no apostrophe since the "corner" was owned by the magazine and not by the pedants. And so on.

Since then, the apostrophe is moved every week, e.g. "P'edants Corner", "Peda'nts Corner", etc. I'm glad these people have so much time on their hands...
