Tories tweaking their message 11:36am on 24 Nov 2009 #129 Interesting article. However, the IMF statement is meant to apply across the whole world while the ECB statement is meant to apply across only the Eurozone. Therefore, they can be and are very different.

The IMF statement is a warning that if the more prosperous emerging nations withdraw their "fiscal stimuli", then it might hurt the developed economies that are still eyeballs deep in the doo-doo, primarily the US and UK !!

China, Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong and Singapore are out of the mess. Thailand and South Korea are on the verge of getting out. In Europe, both France and Germany are out.

However, the European "basket cases", UK, Spain, Italy and Greece, and the new EU economies are still deep in it !! As evidence, Our Glorious Leader is trying to hitch *his* wagon to the rising Chinese star !!

In the last part of that report - "He (Mr Strauss-Kahn) added that managing capital flows to emerging markets would be an important challenge and for many countries currency appreciation should be the key policy response."

As a response to his statement - "China has expanded yuan settlement initiatives from border zones to its largest financial centers, including Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. The program will then roll out across Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil and Russia - all nations that are seeking to reduce the dollar's role as the linchpin of world finance and trade since 1945."

If and when it succeeds, it will (a) increase the value of the Yuan and, (b) decrease the value of the Yanqui Dollar (which answers Mr Strauss-Kahn's statement on China's part and gives more nightmares to Mr. Ben Bernanke) !! The rise of the Yuan is now accepted by many as inevitable. The only question, inside and outside China, is - how high will it rise ?? This can have just as serious consequences for China itself !!

NuLabour is busily creating an educational underclass !! More efforts to promote "growth" in education !! Just dumb down the entrance requirements !! Soon, a degree wouldn't be worth the paper it's printed on !!

Yes, the Chinese are doing very nicely, thank you and Yes, the Chinese are expanding into all parts of the world but No, they will be very leery of investing in a country where the leader has "lost the plot" as you call it !!
