Capello's World Cup contenders 09:30am on 15 Oct 2009 Hmm hardly any shocking revelations in there but I am bemused by your adoration of Owen Phil.

Tell how many goals Owen has scored in the last 2 seasons and then please define to me what a prolific striker is meant to do! Even if Owen is fit he should not automatically go, he has been poor ever since he moved to Newcastle and he hasn't exactly set Manchester on fire with his performances. I don't care if he has scored goals for England in the past, 6 years ago I could go out drinking every single night as a student, it doesn't mean that I can do it now!

Also surprised not to see Darren Bent down as one of the outsiders but then again why would someone who can actually score consistently be given a chance when there are only two strikers who can really score goals but 3 target men in Capello's squads.
Can James answer England call? 09:30am on 08 Oct 2009 James is simply not a good enough keeper for England to have in goal and win something. He has made at least one big error in every single match he has played under Capello. The fact is he has never lost the "Calamity" tag because he keeps making mistakes that a top class goalkeeper shouldn't make and if we had dropped him 5 years ago then we would have keepers now with far more international experience.

Capello had the chance to give the other keepers a chance and some experience in a number of friendlies but only now is he starting to do that and people complain that the other keepers are too inexperienced.

Oh and as for Paul Robinson I presume he secretly wants to be a bird, after all he flaps like mad every time the ball is in the air!
Defoe makes case for England start 09:44am on 07 Sep 2009 Defoe is average, always has been always will be. If he wasn't playing for Lahdan clubs or under Flash 'Arry then he would never be given a look in.

I feel very sorry for Peter Crouch really, whenever he plays pundits always say that there are question marks because he only scores against poor teams at international level but these self same critics never bat an eyelid at Defoe despite the fact that most of his international goals have come against Andorra.
Diving me crazy 2:33pm on 28 Aug 2009 To me the funniest part about everything was Wenger's comment of "I'm sure he just did it to get out of the way because he was afraid of being hurt".

Perhaps someone should explain to Mr Wenger and Eduardo (who should be called a Brazilian not a Croatian, it's like claiming Tony Cascarino is Irish!) that the best way to avoid injury is not to leave your leg trailing in the hope of it being touched and then falling down after you have went past the goalkeeper.
Tevez a sound deal for Man City 11:31am on 14 Jul 2009 It will be interesting to see if that true stalwart of Chelsea John Terry does move to Man City or forces Chelsea to give him an even bigger contract than the one he is on now. That's the thing with Chelsea when you assemble a squad full of mercenaries you can't complain when they leave foe even more money. Maybe without big4 refereeing protection people will realise that he is actually a limited defender who fouls far more than he should.

As for Man City they remind me of the original Galacticos at Real Madrid whereby they are all great players but they simply will not gel as a team.

Sorry Phil but that's stretching the truth a little don't you think. In 2004 Sven was still in charge of the England team, that would be Sven who picked his favourite players if they could stand let alone run (anyone else remember the match vs Spain when Beckham had had one training session since breaking his leg and STILL started the match).

Owen was never in danger of losing his place in the England squad he went to Newcastle for one reason - money!
Hasn't it served him well.

Actually if you are in the UK there are no adverts because that would be illegal as you say. BBC World is an offshoot of the BBC which sells BBC stuff to other countries worldwide hence why you can see the BBC site at all

To be fair the sport isn't as bad as the rest of the BBC and heck I'm sure the sport won't have anything to do with London after 2011... hang on a second. I would never begrudge any growing up anywhere but if you break into a chorus of "Is it because I'm a Lahndaner..." then I demand my licence fee back ;)

To be fair I hope that Owen's agents haven't put "two injury scarred years at Newcastle" since he has been with them for 3!

Sorry but the BBC and the website is funded by the British taxpayer and therefore it should be aimed at the UK audience. Believe me though if you think that writing is parochial then you have never read Robbo Robson's blog!
NOTE to the BBC however the UK does exist OUTSIDE of the Greater London area, just in case you know you forgot, which you seem to have.

You talking about Magilton or Keano???
If ever there are going to be two contrasting managerial styles it will be here, Magliton is most likely a yes man who will do everything Briatore tells him to do (appears to have been in the job spec) and Keane is so paranoid about being controlled that he quit because his last Chairman wanted to talk to him after a 1-4 drubbing against Bolton at home.

Still yet again we have been given Portsmouth on a Tuesday evening. I do find it strange that it's been us travelling 680 miles there and back twice in a row. I read the article about how the fixtures are produced but in it he even admits that it gets altered to fit in with certain criteria.

Still ho hum at least all of the stadiums we will be playing in will be fully covered.
