As laird is not hold European Tour membership (i.e. he doesn't currently play the minimum amount of events on the Euro Tour) he cannot qualify through his results on the world points list (he would have moved to 6th after his win - top 4 qualify). His most likely inclusion would be if Monty picks him as a wild card.
Olympics return good news for golf 11:44am on 12 Oct 2009 As big a golf fan as I am, I have to say that I disagree with golf in the Olympics. There are so many events in the calender already, which the recent spat between Harrington and Bjorn has highlighted.
Harrington has objected to plans of playing one events in Europe to retain his tour memebership, yet campaigns for golf in the Olympics? Doesn't add up to me.
If it was to be included, it should have been for the elite amateurs, not pro's.
Monty slams Poulter absence 11:25am on 24 Sep 2009 Agree that if Monty didn't want to make an issue of it then why did he say it? I think he's enjoying the limelight rather more than being Ryder Cup Captain (I had originally put 'RC' Captain, but thought people might mis-interprit!).

I think the scheduling of the Vivendi Trophy is to blame here, if they really wanted all the top players present, do they really think staging it when the final Fed Ex event is being held would help them?

As a Poulter fan, I sincerely hope he just keeps quiet and concentrates n his golf and qualifiying for the RC outright....unlike last time.
Pressure on as top stars feel the cut 3:53pm on 09 Sep 2009 I can't understand what has happened to Rose, other than becoming a family man. I watched him at a few European events in 2007 and he was exceptional, and this was a time when he had a few niggling injuries. One things for sure, he needs to climb up the rankings or those Majors WGC's will be a thing of the past for him.

New Irish hero faces pro dilemma 4:30pm on 18 May 2009 Turn pro now, as great as the Walker Cup is, it's not worth waiting for when he could quite possibly play poorly and have a totally forgettable cup. Go for it whilst form is good is my view.
McIlroy paces himself as Laird looks to impress at Sawgrass 1:51pm on 07 May 2009 Have to say I'm a fan of the 17th, I mean if you replaced the water with grass, it would be odds on to be the easiest hole on the course, and I'd bet that a high 90's% of the field would hit GIR. Surround it with water, and it's more of a mind game. Yes, some of the shots hit the target only to be unlucky and roll off or hit the surround, but that adds to the drama.

Anyway, c'mon Luke!!
