Will Lloyds' chiefs resign? 4:13pm on 09 Mar 2009 With a CABAL spelt BDVDB (Brown, Darling, Vadera, Daniels and Blank) no one will resign. Until the public actually know the intimate details of the Lloyds/HBOS takeover this whole sad affair will retain a very nasty smell.
The 'special partnership' 09:56am on 03 Mar 2009 I doubt whether anything Brown will say to Obama will be of use or even interest to the latter except that Obama might learn not to follow Brown's policies. On a lighter note I hope Obama doesn't get Brown and the US Scouts muddled up.......
Driven to distraction 4:51pm on 27 Feb 2009 Prescott hasn't improved one jot since he finished chasing his diary secretary. Yes it is extraordinary that Goodwin has been allowed to run off with this pension but Prescott should look nearer to home (Brown and Darling) to see who really is responsible for the whole disaster.

Was Fred really 'the shred'? 4:54pm on 24 Feb 2009 Yes, RBS, HBOS, Northern Rock, Bradford and Bingley all got it wrong. I am still unclear what the Bank of England. FSA and the Treasury did about it. Perhaps if one of those three had been given the lead instead of a muddled 'committee type' approach we might just not be in quite such a hole. I can't remember who set up that so called regulatory framework........

With all these wonderful belated ideas how does Brown think he will be able to fill the Treasury coffers - yes you've guessed it - higher taxes for you and me

Why don't you have another Panorama and pose the same type of questions to Brown/Darling to see if they will admit a total lack of awareness of what was going to happen??? Some hope...........
Sharp practice on knife crime stats? 4:19pm on 12 Dec 2008 This release of information smacks of Ministerial leaks to ensure the whole story does not come out. This incident just sums up the incompetent useless Home Secretary.
All change at RBS 7:52pm on 11 Oct 2008 Yes, no doubt bankers (generic term) must take some of the blame. But I also feel that had a large proportion of our gold reserves not been sold off at rock bottom prices, that the government had not squandered so much of the huge tax take from the last ten years, that had the golden rule of borrowing only to develop as opposed to maintain been adhered to and the rules not changed at the Chancellor's whim, that the same Chancellor had resisted the temptation to build his 'stability' on a sea of debt this country would be in a very much better situation to withstand this downturn than we appear at present.
