Ferguson's kids are all right 09:28am on 02 Dec 2009 Rather than all the publicity being given to SAF and Utd's kids, shouldnt we be questioning Spurs? They had an almost full strength team out yet at no time did they seriously threaten Utd. In 2 games now against Utd Spurs have been shown wanting. In both they had possession and some chances but at the end were soundly beaten.

they may have beaten a very poor, slow starting Liverpool by the odd goal in 3 but they have been beaten easily by Utd (twice), Arsenal and Chelsea. I think the plaudits being lavished on Spurs are premature and that they will finish 6th come May.
Ferguson revels in classic win 08:37am on 21 Sep 2009 A good post with some fine points as always Phil. I do think yr comment about injury time needs to be given greater prominance. Listening to Mark Hughes you would think that injury time is just for Man City's opponents. As the time accorded to injury time has now been accurately totted up Hughes can have no complaints and yet his complaining does make you think what Man C were doing in those extra mins. Giving the ball away thats what -over and over again. As you say it was so one-sided in the 2nd half, if it was a boxing match, it would have been stopped.

At one stage the possession ratios were reading 80/20% in Utds favour. For a team with hopes of a top 4 place a 20% possession figure is shameful and more in keeping with a bottom 3 team. I also think Hughes would be distressed at the performances of his expensively assembled defence, particularly the English contingent who were just very poor. If Lescott is worth £22m then im a banana! Add to that the 'walkabout' of Rio and Ive great fears for English defending in SA next year. Mark my words, one of Terry, Johnson, Ferdinand, Lescott, Cole or Bridge will do something like Rio did yesterday -its inevitable.
Comments 11:18am on 30 Jun 2009 Now Ive seen the set list i know what i missed! Would loved to have seen The Rising, Ghost of Tom Joad, Johnny 99, No Surrender and Radio Nowhere -but the BBC in their infinite wisdom decided to show 1hr 30mins instead of the whole 2hrs 40. Would they cut La Traviata or Wagner's Ring i wonder? Anyone complaining about his set must be mad. Yes its subjective but i think he played everything he needed to.
However can i ask anyone reading these posts from the BBC -have you any plans to show the WHOLE concert anytime soon on BBC 2 or 4?
An Early Glimpse of the Boss 1:34pm on 29 Jun 2009 I echo some of the comments above. What happened to the missing hour of Springstee's set? Why didnt the BBC show the whole set? It was especially gauling to listen to Mark Radcliffe immediately following his set, say, 'wow, that must have been 2.5hrs!' Great! Thank you BBC, esp as we only saw 1.5hrs of it!
The Glastonbury Rumour Mill 7:19pm on 28 Jun 2009 Can anyone tell me how long Springsteen's set was. Mark Radcliffe on BBc 2 said it was 2.5hrs yet the BBC only showed 1hr 30mins! Where is the missing footage? Can anyone explain? Thanks.
Brilliant Barcelona outclass Man Utd 7:33pm on 28 May 2009 Of course it goes without saying that any team winning the CL has a right to be labelled the best team in europe.
However we only have to remember how close Chelsea were to beating them in the semi and only by some very poor refereeing decisions were they eliminated.
I would also say that Liverpool if given a chance would, i believe have beaten Barca as their midfield is more disciplined than that of Man Utd's and generally of a higher class.
Brave Shearer gives Newcastle hope 09:09am on 12 May 2009 A great and surprising win for the barcodes. I honestly thought it would stay at 1-1 -a result which surely would have sent both down and pleased no-one but Hull.
Midds are now doomed barring a miracle which could happen given Hull's freefall. Hull represent Southgate's only chance and the way Hull players are refusing to play for Brown (player power gone mad in my view)will give him hope. There is no doubt Midds players are trying but they havent got the attacking talent with Alves being surely one of the worst signings of 08/09.
For the magpies they now need at least 4pts from their 2 games with 6 i think being enough. Their best chance actually may well be against Villa away who, like Hull, are in freefall. Fulham at home may well be more difficult.
Man Utd pile on agony for Wenger 10:41am on 06 May 2009 Well done to post No 34 (Blue Phoenix) -at last someone recognises what has been patently obvious to most of the Arsenal fans. See my comment no 24. They desperately need a tall CB and a defensive MF and both need to be experienced. One of them should be made captain.
Man Utd pile on agony for Wenger 08:16am on 06 May 2009 Been saying this for weeks now, perhap[s months! Arsenal need an expewrienced CB (a Vidic or Skrtle type player but with experience) and above all this player must be tall. They should ship out Adebayor and Gallas asap.
Next they need a defensive MF like a Mascherano (could it have been Arsenal enquiring about him?). Wenger needs to wake up from his obsession with pretty football. No team wins the top prizes without ugly players in their ranks as well. Look at Barca -the Spanish equivalent of Arsenal, they will founder tonight cos thyey dont have anyone over 5 ft 10 and they dont have bruisers in their MF. Arshavin was a bad buy in the context of baloance in the team -they needed a defensive MF more.
Can Wenger fill the gap? 7:01pm on 04 May 2009 Arsenal will lose this tie as Man Utd will score at least 1. If thats the case then Arsenal need to score 3 or more. Only one team has put more than 2 past Utd all season and that was us(Liverpool) at OT. Wenger is trying to create an optimistic mood but Arsenal's defence will concede at least 2.
