First anniversary 3:05pm on 01 Oct 2008 I try not to watch it. Why? Because I don't care about what you have to say about the US. Hear me out.

One of the main reasons I watched BBC World is because I want, I need to know what it is that people around the world are hearing about the United States. Living here I get one view from the media and another from well, just living here. But I want to see how that it spun (usually inaccurately) to folks in Europe as that gives me a better understanding of the information they are getting and the choices they are making.

When BBC American dropped the World News I lost that option. I got their view of the US, which was kind of like 'ok, we Europeans have come to a conclusion and here it is' rather than 'this is what we are reporting about the US and we'll make our own conclusions from this information'. BBC News America has gone through an additional filter that I don't really care about.

Basically, give me what everyone else gets an I'll make my own conclusions.
iPlayer Radio: Buffering & Programme Availability Update 6:09pm on 26 Aug 2008 For what it's worth I find problems with listen again regardless of whether I'm using the old player or listening directly through Real Player (yea, I scraped out the direct URL for some programs and play them in a player, even on those you don't want played in a player).

Listening to say Dance Anthems, I'll go about 12 minutes then a major pause--say in terms of a minute. Then another 6 minutes and a delay of a couple of minutes (yea, minutes) then it starts again. Then I'll get a few more minutes and then just a flat out pause for 10 minutes or so followed by a death message.

This has been going on for months or so

Same happens in the old player or Real Player. Will try it in the new iPlayer to see how it works.
Open Industry Standards For Audio & Video On The Web 4:15pm on 15 Aug 2008 All I care about is whether or not I can play a streaming AAC of BBC1 on my iPhone. If not, then you still have a long way to go.
A handshake too far? 5:54pm on 29 Jul 2008 Actually, when a foreign head of state visits the United States, at the end of their trip they are escorted back to a helicopter or their plane and often times the motorcycle escort will line up and the guest shakes hands with all the policeman who helped protect him. I saw Gorbachev do it in Washington a few years back when he visited (while still in office), though it generally happens off camera.
