England wont in it. Not a snowballs chance in hell and if they did id need to leave the country. Not eneough genuine class, with rooney the only one who lookslike he can tip the balance. A midfield thats very good, but very english, and that will be too easy to play around. The defence looks solid ennough but right back will be a problem (johnson aint cut out for playing against real intelligence) and the keepers position is well documented.

For me, Germany, spain if they can hold their nerve, brazil and ivory coast and possibly ghana are the ones to beat. Germany are boring and german and lack razzamatazz, but they white shirts are fearful come tournotime. Worst german team ever in 2002 still made it to th final lest we forget...

No, in all honesty brazil looked decent without ever getting into top gear. But they clearly have the edge on england in several departments and I feel they adn spain are the ones to beat next year.

They have pace to burn, creativity and are so physically imposing even the northern european teams might find themselves being bullied a bit. Plus they have the ultimate plan B on the bench (adriano) and are utterly devastating on the coutner attack as seen twice in the last 15 mins against england.

If like me you cannot affored the BBC and SKY you listen as I am now to radio 5Live and try and work out whats going on while they spend most of the time talking about soccer or other rugby matches. When it omes to Rugby Union it is clear to me the BBC hate the Englis supporters. End the TV licence fee please.

I agree some sports need to be protected but to be honest a balance needs to be struck. I am mostly in favour of a league rights to be sold to sky but internationals to be on terrestrial television, with football and rugby, and cricket.

I think, although I confess im no cricket fan, that one test series every 4 years on normal tv is fine. If thats going to kill the game then I think it probably deserves to die then
Nutt gets the sack 11:44pm on 30 Oct 2009 Professor Nutt's opinions are disturbing having heard them on Radio 4.

Not being a scientist or a politician, my instinct as a parent told me that Professor Nutt was speaking more than he told about access to drugs in the UK. It's clear that Professor Nutt has NO idea that children in UK who buy cannabis from dealers are unaware that they the next victim for dealers who 'loss lead' for more expensive, more addictive and more lucrative class A drugs. Well done Alan Johnson!

Utter nonsense. If there is any such thing as a "gateway" drug its tobacco or alcohol. And if you think that cannibis smuggling and the 14 years that can go with it is done as a loss leader then to be honest I think your high.

Well done to Prof Nutt by the way. At least he has had the courage to say what most people already know, drug policy isnt based on facts, its based of mob mentality very ably demonstrated last week on question time.

Unfortunately middle england know it alls decide who runs thsi country and we will be stuck the the even more ignorant tories soon (anne widdecombe 10 years ago on cannibis possession comes to mind) and then we will likely see even more stringent moves on drugs

The stark contrast of benches against spurs should have had the kop worried, where spurs had Crouch, pavlychenko hutton etc, all first choice internationals, in reserve, and spurs had ngog and an unproven teenage defender......

And benitez has blown a fortune. Ony torress reina and beny seem to have cut the mustard
Real, the Rossoneri and Ronaldinho 12:49pm on 20 Oct 2009 I hope real fall flat on their faces. Perez is a monster who thinks that he can buy whatever he wants. This ornamental team is no differnet the team they fielded during last 3 years of his reign last time.

The one class team they faced so far (sevilla, who I fell are the best equipped to challenge barca) gave them such a lesson I suspect real fragile confidence is completly gone now. Casillas single handedly kept it down to 2-1 with a string of superb saves.

What an eejit!! mate, just how may sides have won the permier league in the past 20 years? I count 4, with blackburn never likely to even come close again.

The EPL is a one team league these days mate and has been for years. Hasnt been a proper title race since 2003 and before that god knows when.

Bit of resentment at the fact barca are so far ahead of everyone its not fair and that the EPL's golden boy would rather trade exciting trips to bolton, portmsouth and hull for la liga.

Oh and they got kaka

and villa
and xavi
and messi
and silva
and aguero

Its miles ahead of the permier league. Anyone outside the permier league can see it, just the same as anyone outside of it could see how barca were going to destoy manu last season

roflmao!! The EPL cheerleaders are back in force again I see!!

Mate, take a lok at the history of both leagues. You quickly fine bar 2 golden era's in its history (mid 50s - 60s and 1992 - now) manu werent slogging out for many titles mate, and in fact,in most of the premier league years won the league at a canter. You also seem to forget when it comes to history, Real inspire possbly more than any other side (and I hate them) youngsters to play the game. Players like puskas, di stefano, gento and zidane stand head and shoulders over anything manu have ever had and won more into the bargain, whilst bar the odd year of success in 30, the likes of villa and everton havent threatened to win a title for a ling long time

Will be interesting to see how the premier league competes thsi year in europe. barce are miles ahead, real have spent a bomb and the grand old lady is back and italian football in general seems t be liftinf itself out an almost decade long slumber. Shall be interesting to see indeed
