I totally agree with your comments. I subscribe to the electronic edition of the Herald and this morning I have written to the editor to cancel my subscription. If Scottish journalists think that publishing Labour Party press releases are a substitute for proper investigative journalism then they should pay from their pocket - simply stop buying these rags. However, we have a problem with the BBC which lives like a parasite on our license fees. Can you remember the last time this Company ran a positive story on Scotland? I normally refer to it as 'London/Salford Calling'. Journalists such as Glen Campbell and the amazing wooden top Sally Magnusson are amateurs to say the least. Campbell comes into an interview ill-prepared and then gets the run around by Alex Salmond - to my great delight. Does this not sound familiar - Ian Gray. At the last SNP Conference he made it clear - on air - that he was looking forward to a Labour revival. Somehow I don't think Scotland would survive the ordeal.- remember the feeble 50!!
Devolution dilemma 3:11pm on 19 Aug 2009 The BBC's ignorance of Scotland would appear to be unlimited. Criminal Law in Scotland is not part of the Act of Union and therefore cannot be devolved by another country's parliament. It is as simple as that. The Justice Secretary will come to a decision after taking advice given to him by law officers in Scotland.

Alex doesn't need to put the knife into him since the electors of East Renfrewshire will. It is absurd to believe that the man from London has anything on offer for the Government of Scotland. 11 months and counting......
Calman speaks 09:29am on 16 Jun 2009 We shouldn't take this report seriously and I expect the SNP to reject it. Who is Calman? Who elected him? Unionists can continue to dream but they are a busted flush. Consider this only the BBC - London or is it Salford calling - treats the LD and Tories as major parties in Scotland. Any attempt to resist the will of the Scottish people history tells us will end up in abject failure. Roll on the referendum and Independence!
Will he do it? 09:55am on 03 Jun 2009 #96 I agree that the SNP will hold a referendum which is party policy. However, if you listen to the Unionists among us - and there are still a few - a majority of Scottish MPs elected to the London cesspit would be enough to declare Independence. If a majority of Scots voted for independence the 'Brits' would simply be sent home.
Favouring reform 4:24pm on 26 May 2009 We all know why Alan Johnston is desperate for PR. His party is dead in the water. The PR system adopted by Labour for Scotland is a disgrace since it was chosen to make sure the SNP couldn't get a majority and to preserve Labour's rotten boroughs. And they have a cheek to describe the Westminster parliament as the 'mother of parliaments' Roll on democratic government!
Dunfunding 2:32pm on 24 Mar 2009 #21 You paint a nightmare vision of an independent Scotland. However if the 2007 election proved anything it is that the corrupt 'peoples party' is on its way out. It is too easy to blame the Scottish financial institutions for policies which came from London - Blair and Brown. No doubt history will paint a very negative perspective on the current incumbent of 10 Downing Street. Really would you trust this man and his mates with your wallet? Lets make sure that we never see a Labour government in our lifetimes.

However, I really do believe that an Independent Scotland would not have got us into this mess since the 'peoples party' would not have survived independence.
Off the ball? 2:18pm on 12 Nov 2008 I think I am fed with Murphy already. Luckily he is MP for Eastwood and although I am by no means a Tory I am considering canvassing for the Tories to get rid of him. I can appreciate why the BBC peddle his views - same New Labour and Unionist values, namely spin. What has sport in Scotland got to do with him? We have a Government of our after all. Maybe after the election he can find a real job that is if anybody will employ him.
On the tour bus 11:38am on 30 Jul 2008 #63 makes a very valid point. Why should Scots pay a tax for another Country's broadcaster? Time to start thinking of a boycott. If we all refused to pay this 'poll tax' we would get what we badly need a entirely Scottish broadcasting corporation. Time to tell the 'Brits' to go home.
