Benitez must blank out Ferguson 6:21pm on 18 May 2009 why should rafa personally congratulate fergie? he congratulated the team, and because he didn't mention ferguson by name does not make him petty or bitter. what about the other 18 managers in the league, are they bitter and petty if they didn't mention ferguson too?

as for the best team didn't win, here is a little quote:-

and finally, for the spending...

it is very easy to say man united haven't spent massively in recent years, but when you have had the number of years to put together a title dominating side that fergie has had you don't need to spend a lot other than a few tweaks here and there. liverpool have 3 players left from what rafa inherited. for every player man united have had to replace in the last 5 years liverpool have had to replace 4-5 to get to where we are now. only a muppet could deny the overall value of man united's squad is far in excess of liverpools.

remind me again how many years, and how much money (in relative terms) it took fergie to reach his first title?

The Irish government had no legal standing to make such a promise as they know the final decision does not rest with them, but with the people via a referendum as outlined in their own national constitution.
A constitution created deliberately so a future government could not make such changes without the will of the people.

It is not an incorrect answer as you say, only a different answer. I know it may be hard for pro-europeans to understand but people, and even nations are allowed to have a difference of opinion.

Most of us in the UK aren't anti-european, but we are anti-EU. They are not the same thing. It is not that we dislike the french, italians, spanish or whoever, we just do not like the the vision of the EU the eurocrats are trying to create.

Rather than claiming an Irish no vote is some sort of crisis (which it isn't), instead we should sieze this opportunity to create a new vision of what the EU should be, one that the people want and will support. Why are we trying to fulfill the goals of 60 years ago, and not trying to fulfill the goals of 60 years into the future?

There needs to be proper consultation with the people of every nation, no matter how long it takes. If not the resentment will just continue to increase.
How will Murdoch fund Mackenzie campaign? 3:41pm on 15 Jun 2008 First I would just like to point out to a few of the posters that Murdoch is Australian, and not American. He may have gained American citizenship but he is still an Australian no matter how much they try to disown him.

Also, I am greatly looking forward to seeing MacKenzie stand in the election, and roundly beaten, hopefully to the point where he loses his deposit.

Contrary to what the Labour party say, the public do NOT support the 42 day internment, we value our freedoms far more highly. Nor will voters go out and vote for someone the sun newspaper tells them too dispelling another myth.

For too long the public have been treated with contempt by politicians and certain newspaper editors thinking we're all too stupid to make informed decisions on anything more trivial than the weekly shopping list, and that they should take our decisions for us.

We've been told for months that the consti.. i mean treaty had to be ratified by all 27 countries, and that there was no plan B.

Ireland have voted no to the proposed treaty so surely the only way they can be asked to vote again would be to make changes and concessions which in turn would alter the treaty meaning it would need to be ratified again by everyone, even countries who ratify the existing document.

However, this just goes to show just why so many people are opposed to the EU, they simply do not care for the people. We are just the masses who must obey our allegedy masters and superiors. As if.

This should be a great opportunity to shape the EU in a way that the people want, instead I think they will push on with current proposals and cause even more resentment to the EU.
