Ordinary? Are you some kind of idiot or just a WUM? I think WUM.

Wenger is many things, but an ordinary manager he is now. I could go on and on but I would love to see if your hallowed manager would be capable of making Liverpool competitve if he had to work under the same constraints as Wenger. So maybe when your club eventually get round to building a new stadium etc then you will have a case to argue.

Wengers worked under severe restrictions and at least tries to run the club sensibily and have us live under our own means. Being able to compete with the other top 3, with a financial spend no where near the other teams is something very few managers in the world could achieve.

There are to many fans and to many pundits (some of them dont even deserve to be called pundits with the sheer amount of glee they jump on Wengers failings) quick to hammer him when he and our club is down...but it takes gritted teeth and a gun to their head to give any form of praise.

Well thats a load of rubbish. At least as far as Flamini is concerned. He WANTED to stay..he just wanted to be paid the money he felt he deserved. And the board decided to play hardball and lost out big time.

Flamini was THE stand out player of last season for our club. The reason we were going so well wasnt Cesc, Ade or anyone else, it was on the backbone and effort Flamini gave to the CM role. That position is the key position in any PL team - put good players in there and everything else follows on naturally from there.

Insstead we let him go and replace him with a donkey and a slow poke. Denilson is no tough tackling DM, and for all his ability on the ball hes a liability in the role hes been asked to play in. Not to mention he brings out the worst in Cesc by forcing him to cover both roles. Song is taleneted but to slow to fill the role. Hes more of a Gilberto style player...someone who has to read the game and be in the right place in the right time. However he doesnt have the pace or Staminia to do what Flamini did. There is NO COINCEDENCE, NONE WHAT SO EVER, that our best seasons have came when we had an all action, tough tackling player at the heart of our midfield?

Ive been saying it since day one of this season. We need a quality CM to play alongside Cesc....and we need a quality CB thats not afraid of getting stuck into a challenge. I got shot down, time and time again by fans on 606 saying I was talking rubbish. I do have to question the eyesight of some of my fellow 606'rs in that case - the difference in quality has been obvious from the start of the season.

The worst part of all? We are only 2 or 3 signings away from being also rans. A quality CM, a quality CB and a striker to replace Adebayor. Sometimes you have to spend money to get over that final hurdle. Speculate to accumulate anyone?

But Wenger should not be sacked and any idiot suggesting otherwise needs shot. There is no other manager out there that could do this much with such limited funds. What we need is the board to actually give Wenger some much needing spending money and allow him to make the accuisitions to take us over that one last final hurdle that has stopped us last season and this.

No offence, but I cant agree with what your saying. Google are absoultly massive in size, and make a huge profit, but they are well within their rights to refuse a deal that would cost them money. Doesnt matter if they had profits of $1 or $5billion, they are allowed to seek a fair deal just as any other company or individual would. Why should they be forced to pay more just because they are good at what they do?

As for your suggestion about the monopoloy commission. This just drives me bananas. Google are big and successful because they are good at what they do and give consumers exactly what they want. It's like people are saying you can be successful, but not TO successful or we may need to investigate you and then sue you for lots of money.

If every there was a case of shooting yourself in the other foot, then this is it for PRS. I say other foot, since they already shot their first foot in the whole Pandora debacle. Could well end up hurting them in the long run.
Which sports are on the move for London 2012? 1:32pm on 23 Oct 2008 #14 - I am aware of the situation we find ourselves in financially and the "affordable" was in "" as that is exactly how it was described by LOGOC for their games legacy.

Now whether it will be affordable or not is another matter altogether, and totally dependant on your definition of affordable. Unless the financial situation and housing market does a complete reverse turn, then whoever is in charge of the Olympic Village being turned into flats is going to have a problem.

They cant set the prices too low or they wont make any money. However too high, and nobody will be able to afford them and then there left with thousands of empty flats.

We could argue back and forward about the 9.3 billion being better spent elsewhere. I mean just think with that kind of money we could vastly improve health, education and actually build affordable housing in areas that need it.

But then, sometimes a country needs something huge, like the Olympics, to help stimulate people and growth in other areas.

I would probably agree with you that the rest of the UK will struggle to see the same benefits as London and SE England. And whilst their benfits are immediate, and physically touchable and seeable every day, I think our benefits will be something less tangible 4-10 years from now.

(Lets just hope, that the government and the SNP actually use the Glasgow commonwealth games to help benefit Glasgow and Scotland the same way the Olympics will benefit London.)
Which sports are on the move for London 2012? 12:14pm on 23 Oct 2008 #9 - The village will be getting turned into "affordable" housing. If done right, it will certainly help people struggling to get into the housing market for the first time.

#2 - Comment #7 summed it up perfectly. I stay in Scotland and cant WAIT for London 2012, and then commenwealth games in Glasgow 2014. I plan to volunteer for both!

Besides the benefits and legacy is something that will have an initial impact on people in the Stratford area, and people using rail in the London area.

Long term, if all goes well, we might see an increase in tourism (perfect opportunity for Scotland/Wales/Ireland to market themselves as a place to escape the hectic city centre of London) and an increase in youth taking part in Sport (which would benefit the countries long term health and make us more succesful in future Olympics).

Like it or not, the Olympics are coming, so energy would be better spent trying to help rather than moan about it.
