Last chance 11:12pm on 02 Jun 2009 Wouldn't it be great if the BBC gave us, the public that pays for it, a great investigative journalist as chief political correspondent? Why do we deserve less? Why do we deserve Nick Robinson?

Now that is a piece of tech history worth examining.

I loved my Psions - one of the few devices with great physical design, great operating system, and great applications - a highly unusual combination, and way ahead of their time, superbly engineered in both hardware and software.

But commercially, a massive disappointment. I lost a lot of money investing in them.

You need to shut up, or be shut up, until you can report what is happening or has happened, rather than speculate wildly on what might happen, and cause immense shifts in markets. You are being irresponsible.

Clarke's 'private chat' 11:16am on 04 Sep 2008 The Cabinet is acting like the party-goers who know that the designated driver (Gordon Brown) is blind drunk and shouldn't be at the wheel, but don't have the common sense or guts to take his keys away from him.

Ha!

1. My MP has almost never deviated from his party's line, and has only done so on a tiny number of occasions, and on inconsequential subjects.

2. My MP can't even recognise a 'mega mega decision'. The Lisbon Treaty (the full speed ahead towards a single European state) isn't worth bothering with as far as he's concerned, and 42 day detention (giving up hard won and long standing rights to freedom) is of no concern to him.

3. Why are district councillors, who have less control over anything meaningful to the people that elect them, courtesy of greater central control, got such good pay and rations?
Political fight-back 11:11am on 15 May 2008 --- "I'll do it again" he says suggesting that he's managed our economy through times like this before. ---

I really do hope he won't do it again.

• Another raid on pensions?
• Sell off other assets, like gold, below their true value?
• Chuck much more money into public services than they can usefully absorb?
• Continue to enlarge the public sector?
• Encourage more large companies to move out of the UK?
• Attack small businesses even harder with constricting red tape and legislation that dissuades them from employing people?
• Hugely increase long term national debt?

I am under no illusions: Brown has 'mis-managed' the economy.

We deserve a General Election.

I don't see it like you do, Nick. That looks like a piece of biased reporting from you; you appear to have swallowed the line you've been given.

This 'mini-budget', as you've labelled it, is more ineptitude. It uses yet further borrowing to fund a less-than-crystal-clear solution that still leaves some people worse off.

Nick, you really do need to work harder to provide a balanced report. It's what we're paying you for.
