Pavin's captaincy credentials spot on 2:01pm on 12 Dec 2008 The Ryder Cup is most certainly not the 'biggest thing in golf', not even close, because the US doesn't take it seriously the ROW doesn't care (for obvious reasons). It may be the closest we come to seeing our countrymen win something in golf but so what? Mickelson was comparing it to the President's Cup not to slight it but as a statement of how it's regarded. Personally I find such enthusiasm for the Ryder Cup embarrassing (better than a major?).

US media's crimes against Web 2.0 00:30am on 14 Aug 2008 Having watched us coverage online via proxy - nbcolympics.com - it is far superior to the dullards that frequent our coverage. Yes they cover Americans but as they compete in nearly everything there is a wide spread. And you actually have some excitement and action - not four hours straight of horse dressage after which we celebrate the bronze we won.

The BBC's coverage has been uniformly shocking. No expert analysis, with replays etc, of any of the swiming/gymnastics, merely two commentators repeating what my eyes can see before cutting away to catch up with another disappointment.
China v USA - who will win this blockbuster battle of the superpowers? 1:23pm on 06 Aug 2008 It's simple really. The Chinese have invested an inordinate amount of money in peripheral minority events in which there is no true global competition, in a manner similar to our strategy in 2012 and at this Olympics.

The athletics and swimming, with view exceptions, are where you garner prestige. However, it does baffle me as to why we seem to have such a woeful ROI.

And why oh why is the Olympics tab on the BBC sport so content-scarce. There's more on the British team on NBCOlympics.com than our own national broadcaster, whom we are forced to support.
